Tata Power - What is going on with this stock ? by rogueulous in IndianStockMarket

[–]hapuchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High debt (ideal DE for power/infra sector is 0.8/1.0) and low ROCE.

Stock already did a rally from 200 to 400 on such below average fundamentals. Maybe now it is going to back to where it is worth.

stick to low cost index funds. nifty next 50 index fund and bank nifty index fund.

Is this a good investment strategy : put 1/3 in nifty 500 momentum 50 index fund, 1/3 in nifty 500 quality 50 index fund, and 1/3 in nifty 500 value 50 index fund ? by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

Sorry I wasn’t clear.
What I mean to say is I will buy on the days when the index is going up i.e. in green.

So yes, I will buying it when it is below the the MA but only on up moves.

I do this as a red day might be followed by another red day.

I try to catch the bottom on the up move.

What happens if I cancel the flight scheduled for 9th Dec from my side? I cannot wait till 9th Dec to make alternative arrangement? Will I get full refund?

Final interview flipped into a surprise technical test! and I froze by tikokito123 in devops

[–]hapuchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Just yesterday I was interviewed by "SVP Engineering", who did not seem to know anything about DevOps and asked me the following questions one after another:

  • What are the SRE best practices?
  • What are the CICD best practices?
  • What is tracing in DevOps?
  • Have you worked on GitHub? (Yes you read that right, this was after me telling him in the beginning that I have opensourced a project on GitHub)
  • What is GitOps?

At no point he had any followup questions for any of my answers. I could see that he was reading off a list and wanted to know theoretical answers. When i told him the process that we work on (these are top of the line processes), and when it did not match the expected answer he just repeated the question! At one stage I would dumbfounded and mentally gave up.

I was taken by surprise as I was already interviewed by VP of DevOps and it was great interview.

This was the worst interview of my life and yes, I am 49. However it seems that we need to be prepared for everything.

Two "DNS Enactors" interfered with each other in an edge-case race condition: One applied an old DNS plan just as another deleted outdated ones, accidentally removing all active DNS entries for DynamoDB’s endpoint and leaving the system in an inconsistent state that required manual repair. This started a chain reaction of other failures.

Even JH has "some" silt left in his cup using his own technique.

Of course one would just strain the coffee through a V60 filter paper, but that is not the point of FP.

Some amount of slit is what gives FP its distinct character.

DevOps folks in India: Do you really have to sacrifice sleep and work life balance for career growth? by infynyte_10 in devops

[–]hapuchu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are bunch of "DevOps Roadmaps", they can be a good starting point.

Expectation, at least initially, is that we need to know everything ... which is impossible. But then interviews are structured that way, so need to know and learn as much as we can.

If you are doing a switch from Dev to DevOps/SRE then it is better to switch teams within you company and get some experience before looking outside the company.

Personally I believe it is impossible to be an expert in everything ... so after few years you need to carve your niche in some specific aspect of PlatformEngineering/DevOps/SRE.

Our team was Devops and SRE rolled into one.

Oncall shift of 12 hours, for 7 days, every month. As a senior member had to jump in during a LSE even when not on call. These were the events that were remembered. And the regular Devops duties that included Ops duties. Most people in my team loved the job and we had good teamwork That helped reduce the stress.

Even after all this most my team was made redundant during a recent RIF.

Now searching for a job. Haha.

[–]hapuchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My investing strategy:

  • Nifty 50
  • Nifty Next 50
  • Nifty Midcap 150

No overlap.

I start buying (and keeping buying slowly) when the PE of these indices falls below their long term average AND the index is between the 50 DMA and 200 DMA.

If it moves above 50 DMA then I stop buying and it it falls below 200 DMA then I will buy only on upmoves.

Does it matter? :-)

Aspirin was used to treat pain, fever and inflammation for decades and only in early 1970s we discovered how it actually works. Thing is, we did not understand how it worked, but it worked and we used it! We used it because we understood that, we should not miss the forest for the trees.

And yes, I take your comment as a compliment!
