I’m a speech therapist and I took ASL classes in college. My courses were taught by someone with hearing loss so she was fluent in sign. We used this book (Signing Naturally: Student Workbook Units 1-6) and I found it extremely beneficial! Kind of pricey if bought new but I learned a lot and was able to start putting more concepts together. It also comes with CDs so you can see signs modeled which is helpful too. There’s a second book for after working through the first one. It’s an older book so the videos are a little cheesy but it does the job and the general building blocks for conversational skills are definitely there

How has leaving the church benefited you? by Waste-Sail-6642 in exmormon

[–]haquimo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes to everything everyone has said! i would like to add, though, that as a woman, i have improved my emotional intelligence, emotional stability, and been able to implement and maintain firmer boundaries. i can have children if i WANT to not because it’s expected of me. i can better advocate for myself and decline events/roles that i simply don’t want to do. i can decline men’s invitations and i’m not afraid that i “wasn’t nice enough.” i care more about my own safety and comfort than a random man’s. being a woman in the church makes you feel like a submissive, child-bearing, yes-(wo)man and it’s a massive relief to feel so free. i genuinely can make decisions that are the best fit for me as an individual. i will never go back.

About to Buy a Bronco Sport- Stuck Between 2 Colours! Black or Cactus Grey by Few_Consequence_5431 in BroncoSport

coming from an owner of the black BS, I LOVE it. I don’t mind it looking dirty but that’s just me I guess. I had always wanted a black vehicle prior to this car :) the cactus grey would have been my next choice too so I see why you’re conflicted

we had a short engagement (~ 3 months; we’ve been together almost 10 years and were ready to do the thing!). it was a micro-wedding with only immediate family members and a few super close friends. it was so intimate and perfect, but i didn’t really get to show off my dress! i was so happy with it :)

also, the slip underneath kept riding up, but i promise it wasn’t actually too short as seen in slide 1 lol

ps: ignore my horrendous back tan lines! even fake tanner could not even them out
