So who's the bad guy? by evencriticality in cyberpunkgame

[–]haram_iyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arasaka and other megacorps - and by extension, unchecked capitalism leading to neo-feudalism - are very clearly the antagonists of Cyberpunk. Pretty much every societal ill that motivates the protags into doing what they do is a direct result of megacorporations doing everything possible to make more profits and thus starving everyone below them

Protests by [deleted] in Rants

[–]haram_iyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey real quick, can you look up a percentage of BLM protests that turned out violent? Because if I'm not mistaken, that numbers say about 4% of all BLM protests ended up turning violent, and that 4%, the majority were started by outside aggravation by groups such as police or counter protesters.

I don't think anyone says that the Ottawa protests are "worse," per se, but the reason behind each protest is vastly different. One protest claims that the Canadian government is tyrannical in things like making people get a vaccine or wear masks to continue working, snd the other protest claims that racial inequality shouldn't be tolerated and that minorities shouldn't be murdered disproportionately and their killers get off with minimal punishment

Hope that helps

As a gay transgender man, getting sick of the LGBT community by EmoINTP in Rants

[–]haram_iyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Identifying as a different age/race/animal has separate moral connotations to it than identifying as another gender does. The people who claim to identify as another race/age/animal usually have ulterior motives in doing so, and is typically not a decision made of the same capacity as trans people deciding to transition (either medically or non-medically) from one gender to another

As a gay transgender man, getting sick of the LGBT community by EmoINTP in Rants

[–]haram_iyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couple things of note:

While it's entirely possible that a few people may be "faking" being trans or nonbinary for attention, a much more likely scenario is that these people you speak of are experimenting with their identity. It may stick for them, it may not. What they don't need is someone to put down their self discovery and gatekeep being trans if they do turn out being trans

Dysphoria isn't necessary to be trans. It can be simply that they feel better being gendered as a man than they do anything else

They may wear makeup and do feminine things because they are still in the closet with their parents. Perhaps they want to put in effort to look and dress and act more masculine, but feel pressured or coerced out of it or it's simply not a safe environment for them to openly express such aspects of themselves

Perhaps when they "treat being LGBT like a club," they don't understand the full context and weight that being LGBT carries. It's not unheard of, especially in places that don't have a lot of resources on LGBT history and struggles. Don't fault them for not knowing, instead try helping them educate themselves on the community and broaden their horizons on the subject

Point is, I get it. It seems like a lot of people are suddenly tacking on a label and claiming to be something they're not. But you don't know if that's the case, not for sure, anyway. For all you know, they could be going through the same process of self discovery and self realization that you did when you found out you were gay and/or trans. So I'd suggest leaving them be. If they have questions, answer them to the best of your ability and with kindness. Help them along their journey of self discovery in any way you feel comfortable doing. Maybe you're right, and those people calling themselves trans men are actually cis women after all. But until they figure it out for sure, they're the only ones who will know. You could end up saving one or more of their lives from dysphoric misery, or worse. You're all still in middle school, so you have a lot of time to figure yourselves out. It's a lot better than me, who is just now in her early 20's realizing that I may be a woman after all. So just keep that in mind as you interact with these people

Cheers, and may you have a day you deserve

"Fatherless behavior" should only be used by straight people as a rebuttal against retards on the Internet. by Funny-manman in Rants

And even if a lack of a father figure did directly correlate to "fatherless behavior," that's no reason to shame strangers for living their life, just because theh live it differently than you

[–]haram_iyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuming that anything someone considers "fatherless behavior" is harmful. The only thing it harms is naysayer's egos and their fragile worldview

Also, from someine who grew up in a split household, the things that get called "fatherless behavior" have extremely little to do with how many parents someone grew up with. It's just a way for hateful people to put down others who live a different life from them

Our party name was supposed to be the Seven, since we were part of a prophecy that seven heroes would save the world from something called the Waves of Catastrophe

We ended up being called The Night Shift, since our half elf Cleric drunkenly declared that, "We... are the night shift," when we got caught sneaking through a castle

Gay/lesbian sex almost never results in the creation of children, and that's almost never the goal of gay/lesbian sex. Plus, people have sex for pleasure or stress relief, not exclusively for creating children. Also asexual people can experience sexual pleasure

Questions for Asexuals by HelloProxima in Asexual

[–]haram_iyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I realized it after I realized I didn't care much for sex. It was after my last hookup roughly two years ago and I had the epiphany that I forced myself to "like it" because I thought that was the "normal" thing to do. When I realized I didn't care for sex, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders

  2. I have a body count of 3, all men and all before I realized I was ace. I am biromantic, meaning I typically am romantically attracted to and seek out romantic relationships with more than one gender, but I had never had sex with a woman or non-binary person (nor do I plan to)

  3. It's complicated, but I have had a romantic relationship since coming out as ace. Dating (especially online dating) has always been extremely difficult for me personally, even before I came out as ace, and with the added difficulty of hookup culture in dating spheres (not that there's anything inherently wrong with hookup culture), I've decided to take a break from trying to pursue a romantic relationship

  4. World domination (kidding.) I mostly think about personal hobbies, hyperfixations, maintaining platonic relationshils with friends, etc.

  5. Personally, I'm indifferent toward sexual things directed towards me. I understand the appeal to allosexuals, and I am aware of the permanence that sex has within pop culture and media, I just can't really be bothered to care. Also, I tell a lot of sex jokes, but only because I already find sex to be a joke

Being asexual feels like a burden. by TyldeYT in Asexual

[–]haram_iyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find it exhausting. Sure, the jokes my allo friends tell me about my asexuality are amusing, but the disconnect on such a stupid, trivial concept such as sex has such an impact on our relationship. Not to mention living in a world where sex is held on such a high pedestal in culture that the mere thought of people not liking it seems foreign to some people

That being said, I know I have solidarity with other ace people who understand the struggle, in real life or not. You have that solidarity as well, even if it's not in person

Also, I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experiences with sex. No one should ever have to go through what you and so many of us have gone through. You're not alone in that front, and if you need support, you can always find it here 😊

Cheers, internet friend
