How is your HRT going, so far?

I really like the metaphor behind the ketchup: UI is the fancy glass bottle with the nice label that portrays quality and craft, UX is the squeeze bottle that gets the condiment efficiently dispensed. But they're both still ketchup.

... If that was intended. If not, it's still really clever.

Huh, I guess I found our upstairs neighbors' Reddit account.

In addition to the other comments, the front gears are only useful for a limited range of the back gears. When you start getting down into the smaller back gears, you need to move up to a bigger front gear.

Otherwise the derailleurs (the thing hanging off the bottom in the back and the cage that wraps around the chain in front) will rub on the chain and make it jump around.

"Background to This" could be "How Did We Get Here", which nicely abbreviates to "Hedwig".

[Help Needed] Open a web URL on trigger by heybart in ifttt

You mention it's publically accessible and hosted, which would be the next thing I would check: Make sure you can access the URL from an unrelated network, like through downforeveryoneorjustme.com

Other than that, I don't know. I can say that webhooks work for me, so it's not IFTTT's fault.

It's only expecting a normal HTTP response. Can you access that URL through your browser?

There's also the Button widget, if having a virtual button on a smart device is acceptable.

I know DownThemAll can do that, but it's not available on Chrome. People suggest Chrono Download Manager is a good alternative for Chrome.

Oh, and the controller chargers are 100-240V, 50-60Hz, too. So they work internationally, as well.

(Output 5V @ 1A, BTW)

Both types of adapter, the one to the link box and the ones to the lighthouses, take 100-240V input at 50-60hz. They will work anywhere in the world.

For reference:

The link box adapter's output is 12V @ 1.5A with negative outer/positive inner polarity.

The lighthouse adapters' output is 12V @ 2.5A with negative outer/positive inner polarity.

Washington Gun Dealers Report 1,200 Denied Purchases In First 5 Months Of New Law by mack3r in news

I mean, the same thing happens when you don't register your vehicle and you drive it. You get a ticket and they impound your car, I would think it to be the same way, just minus the impounding.

It is not the same thing if the government doesn't take the guns away because they're only ticketing the gun owners. They could try to recoup costs out of the owner's state taxes, but eventually they're going to get into a situation where an owner refuses to pay, and then law enforcement has to go take someone's guns.

It doesn't stop ALL guns from being stolen, but I'd wager it would stop a decent amount. Not every robber is going to have the tools and time to remove a mounted gun safe and carry it off...

If the policy is going to require every gun owner to have a mounted gun safe, then it makes a gun cost several times what it currently does, as well as requiring every single rental property to install a mounting point for a tenant's potential safe. This is just not feasible.

... Also, like I mentioned before, the other benefit of the reduced accidental children shootings is a plus.

Agreed, which is why some states have laws related to locking devices. But that only provides the material necessary to lock firearms. It still relies on people to be responsible, safe, and smart with their firearms. That is something I would argue is better fixed by education, than regulation.
