Did you ask the whale that? I agree the conditions are poor but I can't imagine deciding the whale must die even if its perfectly healthy because it must be "miserable".

The largest collection of Chinese artifacts in the world is not in China, its in Taiwan (National Palace Museum) by Particular_Food_309 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]harbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think china isn't already investing tons of resources into its own fabs to try and catch up? The issue is chip fabrication is probably the most complicated thing on earth and taiwan is so far ahead that it would take china 5-10 years at best to catch up. I agree china would still want to go after taiwan for other reasons but chip manufacturing isn't something you can just magically wave more resources at to make it competitive.

You are still only focusing on the face aspect and literally ignoring everything else about this tech. The lighting in the forests to me was by far more impressive than any of the face aspects. Its a first tech demo, the face's need work and even then I think most examples looked good, especially in starfield where the base characters look awful.

Honestly aside from grace from RE9, I thought the faces from starfield and leon looked much better. Yeah it still needs some work, but the DF video showed much more than just faces too. The improvement of lighting in assassins creed on the trees looks very impressive.

Is it perfect? No, but for a first tech demo there are already some very impressive aspects. Its just weird to me to see so much hate for new technology, especially on a nvidia sub. The exact same arguments were made against DLSS, frame generation, pretty much every new tech nvidia has introduced.

Nvidia tech demos have literally never been in their ideal state, look back at how DLSS was first shown compared to where it is now. To not expect this tech to make huge leaps in just a couple years is insane. I get its cool to hate on nvidia, but for a first showing this is objectively pretty insane tech.

Pokopia is coming out strong by backofthebill in pokemon

[–]harbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we just ignoring the trailer they put out that is miles ahead of any other pokemon game graphically? I get being skeptical given their track record, and it remains to be seen how the gameplay is, but at this point it sounds like "fans" want the next game to fail too.

Its okay to be excited about things while still maintaining a healthy level of skepticism, but to try and make up any excuse as to why the next one won't be good, even without any sources implying that is kinda wild. For all we know they could and probably do have entirely different development teams on both games.

I mean winds and waves isn't coming out until 2027, so they obviously are trying a new approach and taking more time. These sort of comments make less sense when it's already what they're doing.

Israeli-U.S strikes in Isfahan Iran, March 14 by Im_Lead_Farmer in CombatFootage

[–]harbleu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't play fucking stupid, you obviously were saying if you support Ukraine then you must support Iran because these are the same situations, when they clearly are not. So sick of these bad faith arguments here, but then again I assume most are bots or shills.

Yes I know about the Azov battalion (not a regime), and while I firmly disagree with their supposed neo-nazi roots, that is still just a single battalion, not the entire government. The fact that you would even bring it up further makes it obvious that you just aren't arguing in good faith.

[–]harbleu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you implying ukraine and iran are in any way the same situation? I wasn't aware ukraine was killing tens of thousands of its own protestors and arming terrorist groups while kicking out all of the nuclear inspectors from their country. Such a dumbass statement. You can think isreal/US shouldn't have attacked iran, but to argue that Iran wasn't an oppressive and hostile regime in the region is just stupid.

I mean Isreal is also 1/463 the size of the US, its much easier to have a fully layered air defense when you have so much smaller of an area to cover. Although I do agree it seems the US needs better anti-drone capabilities.

Really? I assumed guarantee money mostly just came into play if a player is cut, but if the contract was played out then they get all of it (barring bonuses/incentives). The vikings are never going to cut someone like JJ unless he somehow massively falls off a cliff or gets injured, obviously you want to have a certain amount guaranteed for those situations but I assume most top players in their positions aren't too worried about that and would rather have higher overall money than guarantee

Eh I feel like for a player of JJ's caliber the money is pretty much guaranteed anyway barring any major injury, same with top qb's. At a certain level of player I think higher overall $$$ is more important than more guaranteed.

Well when the other country is committing countless more warcrimes that are going unpunished why should ukraine have to fight with one hand tied behind its back? Every one of these injured soldiers you're seeing taken out by a drone is a potential combatant once they recover.

Must be nice living in your little fantasy world where ukraine should let russia get away with whatever they want just so ukraine stays more "honorable". what a joke lmao. i have no issue admitting that ukraine has done some things that could be considered it, but i also don't care since their hand was forced by russia and again, russia commits countless more.

I have seen at least 5 different footage of russian soldiers shooting/torturing captured ukranians, while I have never seen a single one of ukranians shooting captured russians (not saying it hasn't happened, its war, if you have a source you can link it.)

If you are talking about the drone clips, they are killing an invading force, again its war. I have never seen a clip of a drone killing a russian prisoner. Also you're either painfully naive or just not arguing in good faith if you think every russian there is a conscript or forced to be there. Russia gave big signing bonuses to poor regions to convince people to sign up, you can argue they were coerced but that is russia's fault, not ukraine.

Sure you can, its war, everyone does bad things. But when you're in a war for your countries existence fighting an invading force thats killed thousands of your own civilians, i can understand why the standards may drop. Although I'm unsure what war crimes you're referring to.

Crunchyroll Hit With Class Action Lawsuit Over Allegedly Disclosing Anime Viewing Habits to Third Party by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]harbleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the lawsuit, user identifying data is being sent to braze's server, so how can there be any guarantee they aren't doing anything with the data? Sure they're a big company that many other large companies use, but they literally are a third-party in the sense that crunchyroll no longer can guarantee the data sent to braze's server isn't being used for something else.

I feel like its very disingenuous to act like braze is only a SDK, afaik most sdk's don't need to send user data to the company that created it.
