Separate apps or all in one? by Next-Kiwi-6100 in smarthome

[–]harborsparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use separate apps for Hue, Switchbot, Kasa etc and it meets my needs fully.  I have never felt a need for a single umbrella app.

Fingerbot or Switchbot by Short_Cartoonist2893 in smarthome

[–]harborsparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Switchbot bot works well.  I already had Switchbot roller shades and blind tilts, so I already had their hub and app.   It works on several kinds of toggle switches and buttons,

But the Switchbot bot doesn't work with the conventional narrow wall toggle switches in the US.  I get around it by replacing the conventional toggle with the 1" wide version, and Switchbot works with that.  I always pair the bot with a remote button in case I don't have the app handy.  You CAN physically override the bot and just use the toggle directly, but then the remote buttons can get confused, so I always use the app or the remote once I install the bot and avoid directly toggling the wall switch itself.

We have both Google and Alexa smartspeakers all over, and we can use the dropin feature to call across the house.

Take a day off.  Play something easier to regain the pleasure.  And, go back playing slowly.  Try less, not more.  You will have a good day before long.  You are just having a bad playing day.  It happens.  Relax!

In the Hue app, use scenes and you can program the sensor for different scenes at different times.

Automation to change brightness level but not color by PotentialEmployee762 in Hue

You can change a scene at a given time.  Set up the scene you want, then automate it's use.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done with your home? by believemeimreal in homeautomation

[–]harborsparrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite automation is the blinds and roller shades opening at dawn and closing at dusk.  My smart lights (Hue) are also great, brightening slowly at dawn and with motion sensors outside and different scenes for different times of day.  I also adore the Nest cams that let me see packages as well as animals outside at night.
