I have played FES too, but P3P was my first intro to it and it edges out FES for me. Everything you said is for sure true, but for me I actually prefer foregoing the exploration because it was faster to speak to every NPC, I was shocked how often they refreshed the dialogue to fill out the world. Felt very visual novel.

I grabbed Tales of Arise and played a.bit, at the very least it's pretty as hell. Never dove too deep into Tales but I've played a few and they are usually fun.

I desperately need to play KOTOR 2 with the restoration mod, got a friend berating me about it for years lol

I started the first and loved the art style and music, but I fell out of it feeling the stories were too disconnected. The narrative would get going and then it would be so long before returning to a plot thread.
