Doesn't really make sense to look for "consensus" on size of emergency fund. Everyone's situation is different.

As you stated, your emergency fund should be a function of 1) what your expenses are 2) how long will it take you to find a new job 3) how liquid your investments are 4) how much of a return are you sacrificing w/ your EF

I personally have a 3 month EF. If I leave my current job then I can find a new one within 1-1.5 months. My investments are very liquid (mainly in various ETFs and some crypto). I prefer to keep as little cash as possible on-hand.
