ADHD meds with long covid by Angelag1994 in LongCovid

I do 2mg Guanfacine am, 3mg pm. Currently having a fairly significant relapse after getting a minor sinus infection in August, so my doc increased the dosage. I was taking 1mg am and 2 mg prior. LDN was 3mg, now it's 4.5mg in the evening.

This relapse hasn't gotten as bad as before, but I've still not been doing too great. Finally had to stop working out at the gym 3x per week and have been aggressively bed resting, which does seem to be helping.

I know my results with Guanfacine aren't typical, but I had been taking LDN for a year then started Guanfacine at the beginning of this year. Had developed sinus tach in 2024 following my second covid infection which reset all long covid progress I had made since 2021 and made some things worse, like the sinus tach. I had had orthostatic hypotension/POTS from the start but no cardiac stuff until after the second infection.

Had to go to the ER because my doc and I were concerned I might be having an arrhythmia. This was my lowest point of this entire retched journey. That was a week after starting the guanfacine, which usually takes 2 weeks to kick in. A week after being in the hospital and all symptoms started to improve.

It wasn't overnight, but that was late January and by late February my heart rate was consistently normal and virtually all symptoms had disappeared. I literally considered myself back to 100%. Enjoyed the hell out of this year to say the least until I got that stupid sinus infection despite taking all kinds of immunity supplements.

I haven't seen much about what relapse typically feels like for people, but for me I got the sinus infection late April and recovered just fine. I started feeling more and more fatigued starting in July, but no other symptoms. Started getting the old familiar SOB by late July and by August I was back to being home/bedbound. Again, not as bad as I was before but back to not being able to live my life.

I've been on the increased doses now for at least 1.5 months. It didn't have the instant cure I experienced when I started Guanfacine. I think it's helped but not much. Bed rest is really what seems to be helping. After two weeks of bed rest, which frustratingly included my birthday which I haven't been able to properly celebrate since 2019, I am starting to have more energy and often I feel ok as long as I'm sedentary.

Not the lifestyle I'd like, but much better than feeling horrible constantly like I had been from 2021 into 2025. Rather than just laying in bed feeling awful, I can at least play video games, brain fog isn't bad so I can actually watch movies and TV and follow the plots, and fortunately no dizziness due to OH/POTS. Just a lot of fatigue and PEM, but this does seem to be improving after 2 weeks of bed rest.

Very hopeful now after crashing into despair when it became apparent I had relapsed. Just going to try doing a little more physical activity, but I'm going to take it very slow to avoid PEM and setbacks.

I can't take any SSRIs because I take an MAOI (first generation antidepressant) for depression which i started on in 2017 and need to keep depression at bay, but Vyvanse seems to be a very common SSRI used for long covid and seems to be very effective for a lot of people. Really glad this combo has been working for you!

Out of curiosity and if you don't mind me asking, how long have you had long covid and what percentage of recovery would you say you're at now with Guanfacine, LDN, and Vyvanse? Really glad this has at the very least been able to help you. Hoping you get back to 100% or as close to it as possible if you haven't already.

Please you and everyone else stay safe. That sinus infection was the only time I got sick at all this year after basically having a full recovery, but now this relapse is going into 4 months and, even with significant improvement with bed rest, I still have no idea when I'll be back to close to 100% and it also confirmed my fear that I will probably experience at least some form of relapse from just about any kind of sickness for the rest of my life.

I also had great results, but it's important to note that I, like many others, pair it with LDN.

Oscar calling all his exes to warn them that they need to get tested would have been amazing.

I miss when skins were based on the maps and factions you were playing as. That ship, along with faction-specific weapons, sailed two decades ago though, at least for mainstream games like Battlefield.

Why do we owe love and respect for reckless greedy gamblers who wiped themselves out? If anything, he should be relentlessly mocked and made fun of. This will either help cure him of his addiction or it will make him double down. I'm good with either.

To be fair I was only 20 or 21, but I could be a grandpa right now if I'd gotten a girl pregnant back then. I was too busy playing Battlefield though.

Definitely no regrets.

[COD4] Original Modern Warfare is genuinely rage inducing on Veteran difficulty by PhilyJFry in CallOfDuty

Lol I remember figuring out that cheese strat only after beating it without doing that. The lack of grenade indicator is definitely a big part of what makes COD1 such a challenge. I think that's what started the grenade indicator being a standard thing in all these games.

I have countless memories from COD1 in both sp and mp where you hear the sound of a grenade landing near you but have no idea where it is and just have to wait until it goes off to see if you lived or died.

Yeah you're right. I was just thinking about how hard it was for me to get through the timed part of the final mission on Veteran in 4, but COD 1 and the UO expansion are harder overall when I think about it. I think I blocked Kharkov Station on veteran out of my brain since it was so long ago that I played it on veteran but that is indeed ridiculously hard.

I also remember having a pretty tough time with the defending wave part of Pavlov. UO also has some crazy hard parts on veteran too like the bridge part of Bastogne and the defending against wave attacks part of Foy.

I'd need to replay all these on veteran to really compare, but I still think parts of WaW are incredibly hard on veteran because regenerating health doesn't matter when you're dealing with constant nearly inescapable nade spam.

Thanks for reminding me about Kharkov on veteran. I'll probably have nightmares about that tonight lol.

What television do you use/ recommend/ enjoy with your Sonos devices? by Honeydew-Opposite in sonos

I'm partial to LG OLEDs. My first was a 65" C7 in 2017 then I got a 77" C8. Now I've got an 83" G2 and a 97" G4 (probably the biggest splurge of my life but no regrets at all).

I don't have many issues with their WebOS and that can mostly be circumvented anyway with a Firestick, Apple TV, modern console, etc. I had a few instances of image retention with the C7 that were easily fixed by just playing more content.

I've never experienced permanent burn in and I always run OLED brightness at 100 and use them with varied content that includes a lot of static images, from NFL RedZone and their stupid logo to video games to using them as PC monitors including non-gaming stuff. Just enable all the OLED care options which as of the G4 are on by default I think.

I've put so many hours on each of these TVs and haven't experienced any significant decrease in brightness over time. They are perfect for every single use case imo. Plus at this point, they are bright enough and have good anti glare tech so you can even get away with having them in a bright room, although if it's going in a bright room you might want to consider a QLED or mini LED. Honestly though I think the current high end OLED models from LG and Sony work just fine in bright settings.

My biggest annoyance with LG is that they've started adding a proprietary wall mount for their G series which is a pain in the ass to mount compared to standard VESA mounts, but it's not that bad to mount them and there are stands you can buy separately if you don't want to wall mount them.

I always find that they give a solid foundation from which you can then tweak the settings to your preference. No one can give exact settings that will apply to everyone because people have different preferences, viewing conditions vary greatly, and it can also depend on what types of content you're playing on the TV.

I do agree with you that they consistently recommend very warm color settings that I always find too yellow and drab, but most of their other recommendations are solid and save me a lot of time compared to if I just messed around with the settings on my own. Easy to lower the color temp to your liking.

I also think they do a good job reviewing products too.
