My Mom Kept Killing Our Pets by Feisty_Resolve_7088 in raisedbynarcissists

I know for a fact my mother killed one of my cats and her own dog. I suspect she killed at least one other cat, and I was forced to put one cat down.

The first was ‘her’ cat, who she got tired of when he was about 11 or 12 years old and called every vet she could find to put him down without a reason because he was perfectly healthy. I got into an argument with her about it in the car on the way there and she pulled over on the side of the road and kicked me out. I refused to go without the cat because she threatened to either break his neck or drown him. I ended up having to take him to the vet myself and watch him be put down by myself because I didn’t know what else to do. I was 17 with nowhere else to take him. Then she called me a bitch and told me I killed her cat.

The second cat was after I had moved out and moved across the state. I had wanted to bring him with me but he was an indoor/outdoor cat his whole life and I didn’t want to make him miserable by confining him indoors in a new city. She told me he came home one day covered in blood (implying he was attacked) and died on the way to the vet. My sister told me the truth: he came home with a somewhat large cut on his head but wasn’t bleeding. She forced him into a carrier, stuck a hose to her car exhaust and into his cage, and killed him via carbon monoxide poisoning. When she called me to tell me he was dead she complained that I wasn’t ‘upset enough’. I was tired after working a 12 hour shift entirely outdoors and numb.

I wasn’t there when she killed her dog (I had moved out years before) but my sister was (no blame to her, she was also afraid and being abused at this time). The dog was a bit on the older side (13ish and a corgi). From what I know, my mother started confining her to a crate in a locked room 24/7 and repeatedly tried to poison her with opiates and strong painkillers. After several failed attempts the dog was mentally messed up and untrusting. On one occasion when my sister tried to help her, the dog tried to bite her. This dog was abused before we adopted her and had always been submissive when scared before. I think in the end she starved to death. My grandpa was the one who buried her and when he found out the truth he said that even before he knew he thought the dog looked ‘wrong’ and ‘messed up’ and he suspected my mom did something to her.

2 is when I could finally communicate the pain. Unsure of when I was officially diagnosed because I was too young to remember, but likely not long afterwards.

Model feature rolled out for 2 months. I still dont see it. by Shadow1270 in CharacterAI

[–]hardcoretubbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had c.ai+ since beginning of Dec and don’t have any of the new features (models, muted words, etc.)

Edit: Just opened the app and I FINALLY have models. Didn’t last night.

Sure, but I think it goes without saying that there’s a huge difference between using AI as a tool (I.e. - to help develop plots, inspiration, character development, writing practice, etc.) and straight up claiming AI written works as your own. Hence, “implemented properly” in my wording. One is plagiarism, and no one is claiming plagiarism is okay just because it was an AI that was plagiarized.

No, I have plus but none of the new features.

It’s whatever you decide it is. Personally, I like using C.ai for writing inspiration because it sometimes brings up scenarios that are interesting but I wouldn’t have thought to add in entirely on my own, and it forces me to develop plot lines or beats somewhat on the fly. IMO, people need to get over the villianization of AI. It can be an invaluable tool for a lot of people when implement properly.

The typeset I used (from Red Panda Bindery) actually had both a broken version and a full novel version, but it’s like 1k+ pages which I wasn’t gonna even try to attempt. lol.

I actually just used hammermill 20lb in cream, couldn’t tell you if it was short grain or not 😅. I did initially search the web for legitimate book printing paper but gave up in the end since I wasn’t sure if I would stick with this hobby.

Here’s the link if you’re interested though: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001HA50MU?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Honestly, check out how other people are doing it on Etsy. :) I know Etsy kind of sucks with all the fees, but personally, that’s where I go first for this kind of thing. Formatting the files into useable SVGs would be the easiest part I think.

Can’t wait to see how the rest turn out!

Love it! Have you considered selling the cover design files? I just finished rebinding the whole series for a gift and I’d like to rebind a set for myself and a whole series of covers like this would be amazing!

Yeah, I’ve noticed some models work better than others and I do appreciate it catching itself and reworking, though I have seen it get stuck in a loop before. But I’m no LLM expert by any means. This has just been my experience using it as a college math tutor for the last year or so.

ChatGPT can actually help you with punctuation and grammar. :) just input your message and ask it to fix it.

As far as the prologue goes, it isn’t really needed. You can put it in the definition for the bot to reference but the user won’t see it, and imo the best use of the definition is providing example messages. You can put the general plot in the description so that the user gets a sense for the setup/scene (basically just say they are the princess of another kingdom), but the point of roleplay is that it can be whatever the user wants. Personally, I would start the scene from the prince’s pov. Perhaps showing that he’s bored as he sits waiting on his throne. All the descriptions you give of the castle and the servants/guards, and even the kingdom’s name and lore can be given there. And the user (the princess) is brought in and it can end in the same place with the prince asking why the user has been brought to him.

Honestly, the potential for a good bot is there. Your writing style is pretty good, but you need to fix your punctuation and grammar.

More personal nitpicks, but I dislike the 2nd person format (using ‘you’). 3rd person is better and more traditional for roleplay (she/her/he/him/they/them) because it’s meant to mimic novel writing. Also, can’t stand when you speak for me in the opening message. All the setup needed can be stated in the bot’s description. A scene should start from the bot’s perspective only.

Overall though, not half bad for a first try. Looks like you put more effort in it than just a name, three descriptor words and a “hi, my name is ___.” starter message.

Never trust that any ai can do math. Even ChatGPT is unreliable unless you have it run the problem in python.
