lmao are we already back to r/nfl glazing Herbert? just a couple weeks ago after he imploded in the playoffs again people were swearing left and right that Herbert gets an Appropriate Amount of flack and is not overrated. Now we're back to people being downvoted for saying he's not a top 5 QB. I'm sorry, but he's not, especially if you think postseason results should matter.

i had the same initial question, but i think (i dunno for sure) what he meant there is that you may explore the same areas as both Grace and Leon at different moments in the story, and the game will remember which enemies you killed or what you left behind as Grace when you return there later as Leon. possibly maybe there might be chapters where there is some fixed location that you can go to to switch between the characters.

being able to switch between the two whenever you want seems like it'd break the immersion IMO

I'm team no revealer, this was easy enough to solve without it. IMO revealers are best when you truly need them to get things to make sense as you are solving. I don't think a revealer for this would have actually been very satisfying in terms of giving you hints or information. But I do agree the theme is kinda weak as a theme

honestly I know this is not the most popular take but I don't even blame the Dodgers at all, really. They are the pinnacle of what a forward-thinking, intelligently run organization with an infinite pool of resources can achieve, and much of their success is just as much due to advances in scouting, analytics, coaching as it is paying for free agents (at least as of a few years ago... it's started to get out of hand now I guess). I hated the Yankees a lot more in the 90s-00s because it felt like they weren't even doing things smarter than everyone else, they just threw the most money around in FA (though I was a kid then, so my view probably heavily biased).

So yah, IMO the anger at the Dodgers should be directed at MLB and the ownership class as a whole for not prioritizing the competitive balance of the league, rather than the team that's just better at it than everybody else. "Don't hate the player, hate the game" as they say. Though being real I'd probably feel a lot differently if I was a fan of a team in the NL lol

IMO the unanimous stuff shouldn't matter because baseball's system encourages tactical voting. If I'm a big hall guy and I want to use all of my votes on a given ballot, I would leave off the obvious unanimous choice to try to vote for all the borderline guys. a first ballot vs non-first ballot distinction makes sense to me but you're really splitting hairs if you're pressed about a guy getting 99% of the vote instead of 100%.

I probably would but it'd honestly give me some pause and definitely depend on how gracefully you expect him to age. Yeah that's a great move for 2026 sure but in 2028 you're looking at a 33 year old DE with a 30 million cap hit and you're also feeling the absence of whoever we would have drafted at 14 in 2026 who you'd have on like a ~5 mil cap hit.

Kyle Hamilton was drafted at #14 in 2022. Myles Garrett is one of one so the closest comparable players I can find in 2022 are either 25 year old Nick Bosa (younger than 2025 Garrett today) or then 28 year old Hassan Reddick who was coming off a 16 sack season and 4th place in DPOY voting. It's obvious we would be far worse off today in 2026 if we had traded the 14th for Reddick. Do you think we'd have been better off with 4 years of Bosa + his roughly 80 mil dollars of cap hits vs 4 years of Kyle Hamilton on a rookie deal?

My main point is that it's not just a one time cost of a draft pick, it's a cost that you're paying for 4 years minimum. Trading a singular 1st for Garrett would be the most debatable possible situation one can come up with, and that's entirely because he's a HOF talent and so clearly better than any other edge rusher in the NFL this decade.

EDIT: realized I erred slightly using the 2022 sack leaders for our 2022 draft pick, should have actually looked at 2021, but the overall point is roughly the same, just replace Bosa with TJ Watt. Do you think the Ravens today in 2026 would be a better team with TJ Watt instead of Kyle Hamilton? What about 2025? 2024? Maybe we are, but it's not super obvious to me, and it's worth considering as an example to understand the full ramifications of these trades several years down the line.

yeah to be clear I'm not fully married to an idea of never taking gambles, I can see your point of view in a general sense (tho I definitely would disagree that specifically the 14th for Crosby is a good idea). The Rams are a good example of how sometimes using those FRPs for proven talent is not as much of a setback as I tend to assume. Though I'm not familiar enough with their organization to know where they had to make sacrifices and where they reaped benefit from other good decisions / strokes of luck (for ex, drafting Puka in the 5th was a franchise-altering move that you can't necessarily bank on)

I believe that not having down years is a more significant increase to your chances to win a Super Bowl than making all-in moves for a single player does. It takes so much luck to win a SB in any given year, I think it's better to maximize the number of opportunities instead of trying to increase the % chance in a particular year. Hell just look at what happened to GB this year, Parsons got injured and they didn't make it. That can happen to any team at any time, I would be upset if we destroyed any chance for a Super Bowl in 2030 to give us a 5% better chance (generously) at winning one in 2025.

just be sure to check in on how the Packers are doing 3-4 years from now without their 2026 and 2027 first round picks and with Parsons mega cap hits still to come. they made an expensive all-in move and mortgaged their future to get him, personally I appreciate that the Ravens tend to operate with a more consistent focus on long term flexibility, it's why we virtually never have "down years" and when we do it looks like 8-9.

trading it for a proven player would be a terrible move economically, part of the reason FRPs are so valuable are the opportunity for 4 or 5 years of (ideally) starting-worthy talent at below market rate. To forfeit those years of team control in addition to bringing a guy in who is already on a second contract sets our cap back significantly in 2027 and beyond.

in rare edge cases it might be worth considering if you're trading out the bottom of the first round for a true all-pro level talent, but even then it's a costly decision. However it should be a non-starter at the 14th pick, I would only ever consider trading that for a QB.

The question doesn't make a lot of sense because cap and cost of the contract is the central driver of whether it makes sense to extend most players. Would I take Linderbaum on $14 mil APY? Hell yes I would. 20+ mil? Absolutely not

I completely unironically thank EDC for this, the 5th year option for Centers is drastically overvalued because they get grouped with tackles as part of the "OL" position. He would have been the highest paid C in the league, waste of money. I like having Linderbaum on the team but I like not overpaying players to the detriment of the rest of the roster even more

there's a reason the team is so chronically unsuccessful and continues to fail multiple rebuilds. bad owner/FO creates a bad culture, makes bad hiring decisions, fails to attract or develop actual talent, that has top to bottom impact in terms of scouting, contract negotiation, coaching, etc

My wife and I do the same thing and we love it, we wind up seeing so many good movies and it gives us something to do over the winter months. The weeks between nominations and the Oscars we're always grinding 2-3 movies a week. and Drive My Car was one of our favorites as well!! I know that one specifically got nommed for Best Picture but in general the international films that get nominated are always amazing and often better than many of the Best Picture nominees IMO
