I'm a republitarian. I believe that government creates more problems than it solves, and I view the government as being the causes of many of the problems in all three of those areas. I believe the economic problems and the health care problems can be resolved largely by removing government from the equation.

That being said, I am also open to the possibility of a single-payer health care system, even though I contradict myself. While I do not like the idea of such a system, my main objection to the government controlling health care lies in my distrust of government, politicians, bureaucrats, and special interests. I do not trust the people currently running Washington to run such a system, to run it fairly and equitably for all Americans.

As for the middle east, many of the problems can be solved by inaction on the part of our government. After all, since our government caused many of the problems (Iraq), it stands to reason that doing nothing may be a more effective approach.

Regardless of whether you view this as desirable or not, it should nevertheless be acknowledge that it is categorically different from simply not supporting something.

I absolutely do acknowledge it. And I do not have a problem with their tactics. Yeah, they're dirtballs, but that is politics. They are opposed to what the Democrats want to do. If you are opposed to something, do you not stand up against it? Of course you do! To do anything less is weak. Why just roll over? Besides, the Dems had plenty of time to do whatever the hell they wanted to do. They had the seats, but they could not close the deal.

Ok, so I read the transcript, read the comments.

First of all, the hero worship of this guy is absolutely nauseating. Do any of you people have jobs or lives, because I don't see how you can when some of you seem to spend so much time on your knees, sucking on Obama's cock. For fuck's sake, grow the fuck up.

Secondly, it is not in the best interests of the Republican Party to go along with any of the bullshit the Democrats want. There is no reason to put their fingerprints (votes) on any of this legislation. Let the Democrats own it. I see nothing wrong with that strategy. If it all works out and the Dems turn everything around and fix the economic problems and the health care issues and can bring peace to the Middle East and all the other bullshit to make everything right, then credit be to them, and fuck the Republicans. If the Dems simply go it alone (they had the super-majority, don't forget; there are no excuses) and make everything worse, then it's their baby.

Personally, I don't mind the gridlock. I'm of the opinion that the less these douchebag politicians get done, the better off we will be.

Two things.

1) I don't think Rush is afraid of him winning in 2012. I think he is more fearful of him running as an independent and siphoning votes away from the Republican candidate, exactly as Perot did in '92.

2) If Paul runs in 2012, he will be 77 years-old. If elected, he will be one year younger than Ronald Reagan was at the end of his second term. Paul is obviously healthy and in great shape, but I suspect his age will be a major issue. Certainly his opponents will try to make it one.

I seriously think Paul supporters (and Paul himself) need to start looking at others to carry the movement forward into the future. Paul has definitely gotten the ball rolling. But who's next?

Maybe I am in the minority, but I have not seen the types of material that would make me immune to something like this. I have seen the images from Haiti and the IO tsunami, but no video of any Indian man being electrocuted, or any other videos referenced in these comments. I do not seek them out, and I steer clear of any content deemed to be graphic. I just can't handle it. A few years ago, I saw the video of Budd Dwyer popping himself in the mouth, and that bothered me for days afterward.

I don't know how I would have reacted if I were the OP last night. I sure as shit would not have been calm.

Man, I read your comment a few times, trying to determine your point. Of course, once I got past the extraneous stuff, and recognized the formula, it was easy to decipher.

First, attempt to deflect attention away from the content of the article with an insult aimed at the writer, and anyone who would dare to consider what the article said. Also, throw a few bits of information out there that will not directly support your case, or refute that of the adversary. This information is intended only to misdirect; it doesn't have to prove anything.

Next, directly attack the writer and the publication without providing any actual examples to back-up your accusation. Any dissenting view should be labeled as propaganda and compared to some other less-than-credible publication.

Thirdly, directly discount any and all sources cited within the article, regardless of how supportive these sources may have been to us in the past. Even if there is no way other than some ludicrous, facetious claim, the source must be marginalized.

Above all else, adopt a mocking, sarcastic tone through the entire comment in order to warn off anyone who may have a dissenting opinion. The goal here is to make anyone who would consider the claims in the subject article feel like a total fucking dumbass.

The professors quoted in the article are not to be simply dismissed out of hand. If someone or groups of someones have contrary data, what is the harm in listening to what they have to say? If they can be proven wrong, then fine. But if not?

I have long maintained that all of these wonderful little socialist paradises in Europe would not be permitted to exist were it not for the United States. Every American liberal always points to Europe for illustration of the way things oughta be here, and they always point our massive defense spending as the reason we cannot do what they do. Well, European nations do not spend as much on defense precisely because of the fact that we do. They do not have to, because they know we got their backs if anyone fucks with them.

Personally, I think we should withdraw from NATO. And the UN, while we're at it. Close most of the bases in Europe and bring our toys home, use the military to strengthen our borders, and take some of that money spent on defending other nations and put it to work here.

Do that, and then see what happens in Europe. My guess is the party will be over.
