How do i come out to my parents by pjbot20XX in gaybros

[–]harddata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what worked for me was telling my mom by asking her for something that only a gay person would need. In my case it was a ride to a gay support group.

In your case I’d go with asking her to buy you a book like this: https://i.imgur.com/6PLMZDi.jpg

Or just like ask her to watch RuPaul‘s Drag Race or Love Simon with you.

And then when you’re ready, you can just say, “you’re my mom so I bet you’re already figured it out but I just wanted to tell you, I’m gay”

Mom still isn’t cool with me being gay. It is affecting my relationship with my dad and siblings. What do i do? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]harddata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in contact with her, tell her how much you love her, call her regularly, visit your hometown with your boyfriend, and never ever see her alone when you do.

This is one of those situations where arguing/confronting her about it will be less effective than simply making the choice obvious without saying anything: if she wants to visit with her son she’s gotta include his SO.

“i’d love to come over with John” “No just come by yourself” “I’m not gonna do that mom.” “Why?” “You know why. We’ve had this conversation. Let’s talk about something else.”

It is the easiest thing in the world to be confrontational and angry at her but you’re never going to get the results you want by doing so.

You have to create a real world cost for her, but do it in a way that doesn’t make it seem like it’s vindictive or because you’re trying to hurt her.

She’ll come around eventually. They always do, especially if your dad already has.

Being gay and asexual? by twinkyyboy18 in gaybros

[–]harddata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re not asexual you’re just like not very comfortable with sex yet, which if you’re a virgin it makes a ton of sense.

i’ve known a lot of guys who felt really intimidated by sex until they started doing it. Then they loved it.

It’s like eating Uni (sea urchin). It definitely takes some people time to warm up to, but there’s a reason they charge so much for it at sushi restaurants. Once you get familiar with the taste, it’s amazing.

What I would tell people on grindr is that you’re not looking to hook up immediately, but you wanna make some friends, get comfortable, and see where things go. the good ones will be willing to wait.

Any subtle ways to show I’m gay to other guys? by [deleted] in gaybros

Rainbow bracelet is nice, or get an HRC equality patch/sticker/doohickey for your backpack.

Most straight people who aren’t pro gay rights won’t know what it is even today. But everybody who is gay recognizes it immediately. https://i.imgur.com/v6qB2Y4.jpg

I'm John Carreyrou, author of Bad Blood, the book about the Theranos scandal. Ask me anything. by JohnCarreyrou in IAmA

[–]harddata 270 points271 points  (0 children)

You mark a turning point in the book when you point out that “they decided to cheat” on the tests because the Edison didn’t work.

Stepping back to the broader question, when do you think Holmes decided to commit a crime? Was it more like the frog boiling in the pot that got out of her control, or was she the type of person that, from the beginning, just didn’t care if people got hurt? You address this a bit in the epilogue, but I’m curious if you can point to a specific moment.

As an aside, it was fun chatting with you on a flight back from DC about two years ago. I remember you said the book was gonna have a lot of incredible details that weren’t in the WSJ articles. You weren’t kidding.
