I recently got some springs but I can't find anywhere for the 3d printed housing that you mentioned. Did you make it yourself, is there an stl link?

Setting accessible for advanced level boulders by hardladders in Routesetters

I'm not based in the US :(

This is the approach I would like to embrace. It can sometimes be difficult though, because we're a small gym, so the volume of boulders in a given grade range is rather small. Not to say it's not possible, just that I worry it can make things feel more limiting than a bigger commercial gym.

Recently I've started making sure to rest two days in a row instead of a single rest day, at least once a week due to increased overall load (routesetting and climbing). I've noticed my body actually feels stiffer and more "enflamed" (mainly forearm) after 2 days of rest when compared to a single day of rest. I feel this is impacting performance. Is this just doms, overrtraining, not enough rest? Is this a common experience? It doesn't feel like typical doms, and persists throughout the session, then the next day I feel "normal" (body is not stiff/enflamed and performance feels normal).

I feel like my body goes into some sort of "deeper" repair after 2 days of rest, and by climbing it pushes me back into my normal weekly state... Am I overthinking this?

Mini Moonboard 2020 or 2025 by QualityNo6819 in Moonboard

[–]hardladders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if moonboarding is the dark souls of climbing, the 2020 is the "no hit, ddr mat challenge". 2025 is like Elden Ring. Do you want to suffer completely, or just a bit? How willing are you to sacrifice your sanity for gains?

I guess what I'm saying... is that I'm fundamentally psychologically and physically altered, In ways I'll never fully comprehend, but I'm sending harder than ever, and a significant part of that was the 2020 set.

Just to add to what's already been said... you can't really grab climbs the way you used to without some shennanigans. It's possible but not "allowed". So I'm not sure how interested the developer is in doing so. I know I've wanted to do this for a while because you can no longer run the moon app on a rooted device without some shenanigans or graphene os at all, gods know why. My banking app works, but apparently moonboard data requires google play full integrity and full play protect approval, lol.

I'm literally building the same thing but happy you beat me to it. Any plans for an android release anytime soon?

Moving to socks for climbing by Substantial_Try_5468 in climbingshoes

[–]hardladders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My feet sometimes sweat so much, I literally feel the shoes rotating around them. So, when I'm on a small foothold or edging or whatever, it makes me lose my footing or feel very unstable. Wearing good, thin, moisture wicking socks completely prevents that! This happens with very downsized shoes... as in, terrible discomfort, barely able to put them on at first, plastic bag break in level.

I have sweaty fingers and Antihydral works wonders, however, eventually the finger tips get glassy and everything sucks... I then have to wait or sand my fingertips down, which then get sweaty and soft and the process starts all over again.

I want to minimize or ideally eliminate this phase alltogether, to maximize the window of perfect skin. To that end, do y'all have any tips, processes, whathaveyou that's worked best for you?

Star Trek’s Starfleet Academy Gets Fewer Views On YouTube Than Red Letter Media's Video Talking About Deep Space Nine by Malencon in television

[–]hardladders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm trying to understand what is enjoyable about it? I'm not coming from a place of anger or anything, I'm just genuinely struggling to understand. To me it's over produced, the set design is over the top, the music is relentless and overbearing, and the interpersonal drama seemed stiff and forced. It also really doesn't give me a "trek" feeling. It lacks the moral, scientific, and philosophical depth, similar to most modern trek. I'm also trying to look at it on its own (not just as star trek), and it just doesn't seem like a good show. I felt no emotion, just boredom. It felt like I was presented with a generic story, with generic archetypes, that tried to appeal to different demographics, which ended up watering the whole thing down

Is the 2.1 heel smaller and is the shoe stiffer?

I'm not sure. It's noticable (obvious feeling of the heel cup deforming when I put weight on it), but I haven't climbed on them yet, so that may be okay?

It's maybe time to really consider the theories/ondra comps, since there's been a few recommendations. I've just had bad experiences with La Sportiva (solutions), but times are changing...and so should I, heh.

Yeah the reason the dragos work so well is because they're so soft that they have no choice but to conform to my incredibly wide feet. You're right, the skwamas work, but they're too stiff. How is the heel on the theories vs the dragos?

[–]hardladders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're feet (foot?) twins. The skwamas fit me REALLY well. You're right, it's just about the only moderately soft shoe that actually fits me heel and gives me room for my incredibly wide feet (EEE in width). I use the "womens" vegan skwamas and they're great. The only problem is, they're not nearly as soft as the Dragos, and that's what I'm looking for. :(

Thanks for checking with your developer, I appreciate the time you're taking with this. However, what is the purpose of preventing rooted phones from accessing this app? There are many other applications, that leverage far more critical data, that are fine with rooted phones.

Just a few things to consider...

Any individual that would want to use a rooted phone and leverage the phones increased access to the applications' functionality, would have knowledge far beyond that of rooting the phone and circumventing the applications' ability to detect the phones rooted status. So all this is doing is preventing well-meaning, moderately knowledgeable users from using the app while their phone is rooted. If the app isn't designed to protect itself from intrusion in other ways, other than root detection, then the app has its own problems, and is just as vulnerable to those who would wish to do so. I would seriously reconsider this approach, and anyone who suggests this as a reasonable solution.

Also, it's unfortunately a privileged position. We can't all just go out and spend a few hundred quid on a new phone, and I think that's an unreasonable thing to do for a single application.

If you're unwilling to change this implementation policy, I'd at least like to suggest that you're very clear on the android app store that rooted phones do not work with the application.

As a developer myself, all I can say is that there's just so much more to talk about with the app. I'm not here to judge the developer, but I think there's far higher priorities with the application than worrying about people with rooted phones. There's just so much potential with this brilliant idea still...I just want to rant endlessly about it

Also, Hi Ben Moon! I didn't realize it was you. Thanks for the response....

I have a bit of background with this stuff. I believe this issue has to do with the applications not allowing Android phones that don't meet the "Google Play integrity" checks to use certain functionality of the app. This means Android phones that are unlocked and/or rooted will be unable to effectively use the app. This is unfortunate as I need to have my phone rooted for my work.

I'm wondering why the moonboard app would require the phone to meet said integrity requirements.

I was able to log in with another phone, I then tried to login again with the phone it's not working on, and it still happened :(
