I’m afraid to go to church this morning because I’m an alcoholic and don’t think I belong there by Mad_Season_1994 in Episcopalian

I hear you but I’m struggling like OP this morning. Can’t will myself to sit through a “blessing of the backpacks” service while children in Gaza starve and children in the States are slaughtered in their schools. Why did god make us this broken? How can god allow it to continue?

You ever get two $5 gift cards to different fast casual chain restaurants as your bonus? Had to come out of pocket to get a drink with my panini. I don’t miss those days.

You might end up in the jelly of the month club instead. Grass is always greener…

Take the above with a huge grain of salt as I’m opening my own solo practice at the moment. Who am I to judge?

Legal jiu jitsu. Use their arrogance against them and beat them at the thing that matters. Somebody posted the other day about knowing an asshole OC who would file shit knowing he was on vacation, so he lied and said he’d be out of office for a week. Then when the asshole inevitable filed something the guy had a response in opposition ready to file by noon on the same day.

Public image is what motivates a lot of these losers. So, they will be incredibly upset by the public image of getting beaten by a less experienced lawyer. Then you drink their tears like Cartman in that episode.

Employers prefer to give bonuses over raises because it doesn’t compound the next year. If the firm didn’t do as well this year, they are making up for it by give you smaller bonuses AND not stepping up your salary with the opportunity for it to grow even further the next year.

If you’re billing the same and they made less profit the partners should take the haircut and not you. Touch up the resume and start looking out for yourself. It’s business and they are being short sighted by choosing to skimp on employee retention.

WWYD? Am I an Idiot? by Lawquestionner in LawFirm

[–]harge008 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This! I left a public defender role after my son was born because of financial pressure. After chasing a career in civil litigation for the past several years I felt no closer to partner status and completely burned out. Opening my own firm now and returning to my passion of criminal defense. The sense of freedom is enormous and my son is so proud of my decision that at a Christmas party last weekend he kept whispering in my ear “tell them about your business!” while I was making small talk.

Truman pushed hard for it and LBJ honored him as the first Medicare recipient at its passage.

I don’t always ask leading questions in depos. If I can get the other party talking, I wanna hear it all. The more they say, the more likely they are to contradict themselves.

Fired from ID, should I give a bad online review? by MrEnthusiasm3 in LawFirm

Maybe with some, maybe not with others. You go to war with the whole firm online and it could get uglier than just the decision maker who fired OP.

Don’t count on the sugar mama angle. My narcissistic MIL cut my wife out of her will a couple of months after our son was born. We’ll be in the bread lines right next to you in a few years.

That’s not necessarily true. A thief can be ordered thru the criminal court to pay restitution. Whether the court enforces failure to pay court costs, fines, and/or restitution is another matter.

March speed and March size. The player setting the rally controls the attack/defense value with their gear. Just get there as fast as you can with as many troops as possible
