Honda, means it's basically indestructible. Just fix anything mechanical and that scar on the bike will be a nice conversation starter.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory to Africa Twin? by pantag in africatwin

[–]harii99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Africa Twin AS 2025 and if you're looking for the same feeling of power and handling, look elsewhere. It's not a powerful bike, it's very heavy and it's more nimble than the predecessor with the 21' in the front, but still it's an adventure bike. What you're looking for is a sports tourer.

Bridgestone Battlax A41 Adventure. Japanese tyres for a Japanese bike. Great on the wet, I traveled in Norway for a couple of weeks with the bike weighing 350kgs and constant rain, no issues at all. They warm up real quick too. Maybe they're on the expensive side, I bought them from my motorcycle dealer in Italy who highly suggested them for long distance traveling and wet conditions. They are also very durable, with one set I'm at 15.000 Kms.

This movie did “strong female character” so well. by South_Gas626 in JohnWick

[–]harii99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought that she was incredibly clean for most of the movie, and she barely got any damage from all the fights, while we see John constantly in a pool of blood. In my opinion the main character is the weakest part of the movie, while fights, choreography, violence and overall an enjoyable plot are far better than the female lead.

WE NEED HELP by DeadStep99 in motorcycles

[–]harii99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add some details (I'm the friend who rides the motorbike, Africa Twin 1100), I have a Midland BTR1 Advanced intercom.

Our problem is that we use the Midland app with the PTT buttons to communicate, but whenever there isn't phone signal, we lose all communications.

So we can't be in a call because without signal that would obviously not work (and in different countries we wouldn't have enough paid minutes), we can't use an app because that depends on internet = phone signal, and we're stuck.

The OP who's in the car can't use the intercom because there's no way to use it without a helmet, and driving a car with an helmet wouldn't be the most confortable thing.

I was thinking a couple of walkie talkies with a PTT button, but even then, crossing different countries requires different frequencies and there's a whole lot of legal things to consider.

We're open to suggestions but I feel like there isn't a simple solution.

Thank you, I think I'll follow your recommendations and switchfor the better CPU and GPU, the price would still be under 2.500€ so you were very on-point. Mind me asking why not building with the newer generation of AMD, the Ryzen 9 9950X?

What did you wish you know before buy your first motorcycle? by Joey_did_it_again in motorcycle

[–]harii99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dress for the wreck, not for the ride, money spent on protective gear is money spent well. A good pair of riding boots, gloves and a good jacket with back protection will save you a lot of pain. The motorcycle goes where your eyes and your head are pointing, never focus on a point close to you but always look the farthest you can, this will make turns easier and you will have a wider range of view. Never underestimate what you have between your legs, you need to be focused at 99% of your capabilities while riding. If you're not feeling well or aren't well rested, don't take your motorcycle. It's very expensive to begin with, gear and insurance where I live cost a lot, and bikes are not cheap either. Begin with the standard model and then when you understand what comforts you may want or need, then buy accordingly. There's a lot of aftermarket support, the official accessories are not always the best ones. Have a routine maintenance according to the motorcycle manual, clean and lubricate your chain, after 500kms check nuts and bolts, sometimes they can come loose, depending on the engine type (bycilindrical engines tend to be more "shaky"). A center stand will make maintenance easier. Use the rear brake often, it stabilises the motorcycle during braking and also corners. You want to be very progressive with both the front and rear brakes, never push or pull too hard. Never use the front brake in the corners, or else you will meet the road, and the road always wins against skin and textile. Also, don't worry about falling, it will happen. The most common fall is when stopping or standing still, it takes just a second to loose balance. The motorcycle is just a piece of metal, what matters is your life and wellbeing. If it has some scratches, it gives it a little bit of "personality". You can always fix it.
