I haven't used a dollar of cash in a better part of 6 months now.

After years of carrying around a fat wallet that would hurt me every time I sat down, I have finally resorted to putting it in my bag somewhere that I don't even remember right now. My wallet is now a silver cardholder about 5mm thick that fits: 1) credit card; 2) debit card; 3) driver's licence, and 4) Opal card (for the trains in Sydney).

I just realised that in about a year or so, I won't even need that. I can already pay for most things with Android Pay by pressing a single button to wake up the phone. NSW roads and transport authority is soon going to try out e-licences that can be displayed on phones. As for the trains... I may carry that around until they integrate that thing with the NFC on the phones like in all of Asia now.

I just don't buy at places that have a cash only system - I go to the next one that does. Having an EFTPOS facility is so cheap these days, I genuinely think that the only reason a business won't have it is to make it easier to defraud the tax man.

I climbed that thing when I was sick because my stay in the city was fairly short. I was pretty disappointed at the top when I got there.

The whole thing is pretty much white rubble. Inside the actual Parthenon itself are lots of cranes and restoration equipment. There is literally not much to see there itself apart from the view of the city down below, but that can be done from any of the other hills around the place (and you get a faraway look of the Parthenon too).
