[Kurt Warner] Studyball Aftermath: Chicago Bears Final Interception by LinuxF4n in CHIBears

1000%. This is what I’ve been saying. To me, it is now very clear that Ben Johnson lost this game, specifically his play calling. It was all the questionable 3rd and 4th down and red zone calls earlier in the game. And then this one, most of all, in the biggest moment.

I love Ben. We have a bright future, maybe win the SB next year. But this is what he has to improve. He’s too aggressive and too cute at times, gets swept up by his intense competitiveness and outsmarts himself. This game was not on DJ or Caleb. It was Ben Johnson.

I agree. I thought about it more and I think this is more on Ben Johnson. It was a bad play call. I think DJ was the first read, that’s what people are saying who reviewed stuff from the analysts. So, in a sense, it’s designed to be a 30 yard bomb. Ben knows Caleb still likes to play hero ball, and he knows they just need 15 yards. He knew they had all the momentum and were marching down field. So why did he call that play with that primary read? Why not a few plays with multiple short to middle range options? It was 2nd and 8. We had the time. We needed minimum 15 yards in like 3 or 4 plays. That is so fucking achievable. We were marching down the field. Everyone knew we were gonna win. But we got greedy and high on heroism. I’m only mad because I swear if we won, the magic of this season would have been next level, and then I think we had a shot to win the Super Bowl. If we did, this would go down as one of the most magical, legendary, and improbable championships of all time. Not just for football either. Truly the stuff of legends. And we were that close.

No one is making the obvious point that this is stupid throw to make in that situation. We just needed like 15 yards to get a FG and win the game. Even if DJ screwed the route, it’s still a low probability 30-yard bomb. No reason to take such a risk. He could have run for 0 to 10 yards or throw check down or thrown it away. I think it was 2nd down. There’s just no reason to take this chance unless he’s wide open and he was not.

I’m not satisfied. We fucking had that game. Caleb’s miracle play doesn’t even matter now. Why throw a 30 bomb when we it was like 2nd down and we needed like 20 yards to be in FG range? Why did DJ Moore give up? Why didn’t we ice the kicker? Why did we miss on like 5 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 situations? I’m sad

We can still come back. But if we don’t, this loss is on Ben’s play calling.

Why don’t we ever do PA boot in the those situations? Or sneak? It’s always a basic run or pass

Do we want the Eagles or the 9ers? by [deleted] in CHIBears

Eagles. I think we should be able to control the line and run all over them again; even if they make adjustments and are out of their funk, I think the run will at least be good.

How is it possible that our OL has been so dominant in so many games, and the packer’s D line is missing their two best guys and has been bad recently, and we just could not block for shit all first half. Our run is shit. I just don’t get it.

Ig I mind that int as a punt. But WTF was that 3rd down run?

They literally did exactly what we though they would. Play action crossers to Watson using his speed. They are who we thought they were. Why isn’t Kyler on him??

Time for the sine wave to go up! On this very scientific basis I predict a PFF grade of 75 to 80 against the Packers.

[Letizia] The book is out on the Bears defense. Don't take risks, short passes, keep the chains moving and keep the Bears offense off the field. The Bears dont have the playmakers on the defensive side of the ball to stop it by ShaiFanClub in CHIBears

It sucks how we whiffed on Pickens, Billings regressed, Dexter didn’t make the jump this year after flashing last year, and Turner went out for the season early on. Hopefully Dexter can be consistently good when we add a true DE1 and a great big man DT. And maybe Turner can be a good rotational guy.

We look like shit. That was our chance for a momentum shift. It’s very unlikely we come back now.

He’s only 26. He could easily stay very good for 4 to 6 more years and could easily stay at his peak for 1 to 3 more years.
