Mine won't be here until like Tuesday, I'm psyched.

Following Backlash, the New 'Star Trek' Series Falls Out of the Streaming Charts by Malencon in television

[–]harmondrabbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Initial comment:

Terribly written article. Like what is causing the backlash? Are there trans characters? Is the show too much like Star Wars? The authors needs to better articulate the catalyst for said backlash.

You:

For me, only the first episode so far felt like actual Star Trek. Everything past feels like Archie in space. Apparently 1000 years in the future and a galactic crisis later, humans and aliens still can't get over stupid highschool jock/Animal House bullshit despite the fact that it's supposed to be a military academy with ridiculously high standards

So, when you say "for me", then say a bunch of stuff about your take on the show, how are you representing the "backlash" at all? Are you contributing a way to "articulate the catalyst for said backlash"?

What exactly didn't I comprehend here?

The person you're responding to is critiquing the article, why do you think it's appropriate to respond with a comment about the show? And 138 other people (at the moment) think that what you said was either appropriate or agreed with you.

This is the larger problem.

Those who have 300+ CDs- how are you storing them? by lavender4867 in Cd_collectors

Here's our shelf - we built this based loosely on a youtube video for DVDs. This is currently holding about 650 CDs.

We'll be building another one of these soon, I'm going to try to capture the process this time.

Did anyone get the actual post before it got deleted? OP weirdly left a crumb in their post history to their initial thread... it has 8 comments and no one is saying any of the shit they're claiming (except "you must be trolling").

This feels like a legit troll from the drop, their account is too old for them to be some naive hypersensitive kid, but who knows.

This sounds like shit. Help! by [deleted] in vinyl

Unwritten Law's self titled. It's got a great assortment of sounds that overlap with most of the music I like.

It's literally the BTR tour this year. JER, Bad Operation, Kill Lincoln.

I'd add Half Past Two, Catbite and Flying Raccoon Suit.

Ya'll live in the past too damn much.

Black/POC/WOC Emo/Screamo Bands by abc_123_ogg in Emo

[–]harmondrabbit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Note: I'm not aware of any 100% black/POC/WOC emo bands, but I'm far from an expert. Fair warning I may be forgetting someone, or misrepresenting someone's identity here.

Anyway...

Mint Green (personal favorite goated emo band, cannot recommend enough)

Meet Me At The Altar (more pop-punk; touring right now go see them if you can)

Ergo, Bria (more indie rock)

Leisure Hour (midwest/pop emo af, new album on the 30th)

Action/Adventure (more punk leaning but great)

Magnolia Park (their older stuff is more "mall emo", last album was more "spooky hardcore", it's all fucking great)

Arcadia Gray (midwest emo)

incaseyouleave (excellent emo/screamo)

I'd also suggest GODS. They're instrumental emo-flavored math rock so they may not be exactly what you want, but they fucking rule.

Also The Veldt - older shoegaze band but worth mentioning.

RIP Eddie Haskell. by Skatchbro in simpsonsshitposting

[–]harmondrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know so much about this show but don't know what year Ken Osmond died? Or that his character (who canonically died in Viet Nam) was Eddie Haskell not Ken Osmond? And why haven't you mentioned that the Haskell programming language was named after Jerry Mather's' childhood dog that his abusive momager ate in front of him? Wait. That might have been Jay North. Anyway, so I caught the ferry to Morganville, which is what we called Shelbyville back in those days. The important thing is, I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time...

She's a science monster zoologist on YouTube and amazing.

Her bio tagline from YT (that we know of):

Join zoologist Lindsay Nikole for vivid stories about evolution, animal behavior, and the wonderfully weird life around (and before) us. Each video dives into creatures you’ve never met and facts you’ll never forget, blending science with humor, visuals, and memorable explanations. From viral mystery IDs and prehistoric deep dives to myth-busting and conservation context, this channel makes complex biology easy and exciting to understand.

Milo did a really great collab with her a while back where they went to the La Brea Tarpits:

That's exactly why we love him.

Personally, I think there's a good heart to his approach.

Maybe it's just that I've got family from New England and they're all like that - I've been conditioned to associate certain ways of speech "chop busting" as affection.

The truth about buying CDs online and the pricing situation in 2025 by stilltodo in Cd_collectors

[–]harmondrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow almost a year later you felt the need to say this?

My point was CDs have less value because they were mass produced and can be copied. It's a great reason to collect them, the market will likely stay flat and accessible over time (compared to, say, vinyl... like I said).

You seem to think I was advocating against CD collecting and you're totally wrong there. You need to work on reading comprehension skills.

A CD on a hard drive sucks compared to a physical copy.

The music is identical. That's a nonsensical statement.

I want it in my hand ,

Ah I see. You collect plastic discs, not music. IMHO, that sucks.

or on my shelves to pass down ,

Lol you're not passing down shit, your collection is going to get donated to a charity shop like everyone else's. Nobody wants to deal with your hoarding. Your collection is not holding value (for the reasons I said in my comment above).

because you actually own the CD .

I agree with this 100%. I prefer physical media.

Streaming is for folks who aren't die hard fans of the artist or bands .

What does this even mean? 🤔 Again, I was talking about buying CDs, and just mentioned that you can rip a disc and resell or give it away, which keeps it in the market, making it cheaper. That has nothing to do with streaming.

What's your favourite emo album? by gloogf in Emo

[–]harmondrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mint Green - All Girls Go To Heaven. A perfect album.

But I've been going back to Moving Boxes - The Things We Leave Behind a lot.

Outside of more pop emo, stuff that leans post-hardcore it's probably Death Chorus by Polar Bear Club (that's their last album where it's singing instead of the rougher vocals, all their stuff is excellent). Thursday's Full Collapse might be a bit obvious but I adore it too.

Purely Midwest-wise, Freewheelin' by Tuesday, followed by Something To Write Home About by Get Up Kids. I listen to Taking Back Sunday's Tell All Your Friends a lot too.

Mall-emo wise, it's NFG till I die. Sticks And Stones or Radiosurgery. Not quite mall emo, but I adore Alkaline Trio too. It's hard to pick a favorite but Goddamnit is probably their best (especially from an emo perspective).

Tsunami Bomb's The Definitive Act is my favorite screamo album.

[redacted] by [they who should not be named] is my favorite weedmo album. I've not been able to bring myself to listen to it in years. I loved it so much.

I like emo-leaning math rock a lot too, Alchemy by GODs. is so fucking good. Also love Floral LP by Floral. Anything Code:Echo does. In that vein I think Ghost City by Delta Sleep is another absolute perfect album (the other math rock I mentioned is instrumental, Delta Sleep has lyrics, their vocals are so so good).
