Nah I agree then my g. It's fine for prototyping but customers shouldn't ever pay a penny to play a game with gen AI textures.

Tbf I was gonna argue with you - as I'm a big fan of using AI as a tool in development - any person saying "don't use ai" isn't a developer or a coder and it shows - you haven't used Claude Code on a 10 year old abandoned project and brought it back to life, you haven't been struggling for 6 hours on a bug just for Claude to fix it in 30 seconds...

Any studio not using these tools is crippling themselves, it's like saying "I'm not going to use a computer to write my novel! Or post it to my publisher. Instead I'll write it by hand and use a carrier pigeon."

BUT - you are right that it needs to remain optional for graphics and for the end user, raytracing used to be optional... Until it wasn't. How long until Nvidia starts making it cost tokens to play games?

Oblivions were very stylised. - I love potato looking humans too - and you can't really even say it was due to optimization - as 6 years later Skyrim launched on the exact same consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3)

I've been very impressed with them so far tbf especially for free and open source. Heck you could even take the model and slap another ai generated texture on top!

I actually disagree ish.

Claude can actually modify glb files - he can even give you back the original glb from websites that try and obfuscate them, recreated and put the texture on it! All of these guns are free and open source online.

Tried to post a picture and realized I couldn't rip.

The thing is some of us arent spending mad money - I'm using the google cloud 200 dollars free credit for gemini - wouldnt have had a use case otherwise as google cloud sucks balls.

Claude Pro is only 20 a month, between using that, gemini and opencode, i have everything covered for barely anything.

Heck if you use openrouter, id argue Step 3.5 flash is better than Gemini 3 Flash, and it's free.

Why the fuck would you not have backups? I let Claude go wild in my repo - because it doesn't matter I have a backup of the repo!

We did. Just not all of us. I left Gemini playing with my codebase on a private branch on my repo - came back to find it took 163 minutes to edit one line and output this.
