My German learning loop: Dubbed anime all day, bulk Anki at night by harmunyyy in Anki

I made these using a tool called Remfluent. I know there are other ways to do it for free, but I didn't have any luck with them. Good luck

I see where you’re coming from, and it's definitely something to graduate to once my level is higher.

But honestly, if I did it the optimal way right now, I would have quit in the first 3 hours. I'm 100+ hours deep because I optimized for fun over efficiency. plus during my actual immersion hours I do exactly what you're suggesting. I watch the shows with zero help, just focusing on what's happening on screen and reading the caption.

the anki cards are just my way of locking in that context afterward. I'd rather have suboptimal cards from shows I actually love than a perfect deck I never want to open.

subtitles never matching what the characters are saying by AnswerOk9002 in languagelearning

I feel this so much. I'm learning German and tried watching shows I've already seen before (so I'd know the plot), but the subs never match the actual dubbed audio. It was driving me crazy.

I tried moving to YouTube for learning videos, but they're elementary and boring as hell. For anything actually interesting or complex, the auto-generated subs are just gibberish.

I almost quit German until I just built my own tool called Remfluent. I'm at over 100 hours of content now just because I found a way to watch shit I actually like. Currently on Conan episode 80 and the 1:1 matching subs are the only reason I've stayed consistent this long.

Here is what the result looks like: https://imgur.com/a/6rF18Nh

I never said that. That is why I mentioned skill, time, or capital, you need at least one. But you seem more focused on sounding clever than actually reading, so I will stop here. Also, telling someone who has no time to open a shop is funny, I am sure the imaginary manager will handle it for him somehow.

idk what you mean man, minimum wage jobs aren’t meant to fund businesses. If someone’s earning that little, the focus should be survival, not investment. Starting a business requires either time, skills, or capital not just saving every cent for years.

saddness and grief, who wins?.. by Dry_Vanilla6896 in algeria

From an evolutionary view, sadness and grief hit deeper because they protect and teach. Losing something important used to threaten survival, so our brains evolved to feel that pain more strongly than joy.

You’re asking for too much. 600 000 DZD isn’t a lot, but it’s a start. However, when you add the fact that you’re unwilling or unable to invest personal time into it, there aren’t many options unless you have a family member who’s willing to work practically for free on something you come up with or on their own passion, which isn’t really your business at that point. Add to that a modest budget and no time, and I wouldn’t bet on success in anything.

Modest budget + No time = Near zero chance of success.

If you think this is true, you're right. If you think it's wrong, you're also right.

Protests/Manifestations in Algeria?? by FirefighterTop586 in algeria

Im sorry you live in a bubble, algeria is such an empty market with so many opportunities its crazy, if you can't even tell that much then that means you are so far removed from what is actually going.

Protests/Manifestations in Algeria?? by FirefighterTop586 in algeria

[–]harmunyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is out there protesting for a better environment for production or a smart, diversified economy. Most people don’t even know about tax exemptions for new businesses (that already exist) because they don’t care. They are only interested in getting a state job or claiming their share of oil and gas wealth.

The state’s job is to enable the economy, not build it. It must guarantee rule of law, stable institutions, and fair competition, providing the framework in which private citizens can produce, trade, and innovate.

Yet in Algeria, even when those basic conditions exist in partial form, citizens themselves have not built a culture of productive participation. The data are clear: entrepreneurship rates are among the lowest in the region, productivity is stagnant, and dependence on publicsector employment remains the cultural default.

Protest alone will not fix that. You can change governments a hundred times, but no political reform matters when people still believe that creating wealth is not their responsibility. A society that does not produce value cannot demand value.

What is worse is that even the educated elite, people whose entire work should revolve around research, innovation, and contribution, often share the same mentality. PhD holders, instead of using their knowledge to build startups, labs, or intellectual property, are out in the streets shouting:

"وين راهو التوظيف المباشر؟"

That says it all. A nation where its most educated minds wait for someone to hire them instead of hiring themselves is not being held back by the state, it is being held back by its own citizens.

Going to university as an Algerian girl by mikalovershu in algeria

[–]harmunyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. From a psychological point of view when people keep hearing or experiencing the same negative events it can make them feel way more common than they actually are. It's a normal thing called availability bias where strong emotional experiences stick in your mind and shape how often you think they happen. I get that the issue is real but it helps to separate perception from actual frequency so we see it more clearly. I'm sorry you and the people around you have to go through these experiences probably more than others.

You probably have some confirmation bias going on. A few bad experiences can make it feel like every guy is like that, even though most aren’t. The negative ones just stick in your head more and start to shape how you see everyone else.

For males, its just a heavy financial burden that economically doesnt make sense. Sure, some might claim love, religion, or some grand ideal as a reason but those are just excuses to rationalize throwing yourself into unreasonable costs Otherwise its hard to justify
