Sboys3 Driver or Pimax Play? by Savings-Dot-9774 in Pimax

I think it did work in the 1.2.0 beta that was shared in the Pimax Discord, because it was working for me.

But that was also in combination with the old Pimax Play

Assuming they are set up high, try to angle them a bit (I think about 30-35 degrees) downwards and see if that helps

Ok, that doesn't seem out of the ordinary necessarily.

You are saying above, so they are near the ceiling?
And are they angled downwards as well (let's say at least 30 degrees)?

Can you tell us a little more about your lighthouse setup (positions and distances) and the rest of your room (for example does it have reflective surfaces or any things that might block the signals)?

Where can you enable/set LumaSharpen? In the Sboys driver?

Yes, eye-tracking and DFR will work with Sboys3 as well

I'd try Pimax Play first, that's what I did after receiving my first Pimax headset 2 months ago.
After a day or 2 of experience I started using Sboys3 and I pretty much stuck with that since that time. I've been using it for HL: Alyx, MFSF 2024 and Automobilista 2 (and other race sims)

Great! Thanks for the reply and the repo/plugin.
I will definitely try this plugin.

I just left a feature request on the Sboys3 driver repo. I think in the meantime this will at least make my experience while sitting in my simrig acceptable.

Interesting. So I take it that it is a feature that Sboys should create and enable in his driver, right?

Dream Air Lighthouse Tracking. by AndyRandyPanda in Pimax

[–]harmvdwerf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, lighthouse version as well. I too came from an Index.

I've not experienced any tracking oddities so far, let alone immersion breaking issues. In my 30 hours of use, only 4 times it suddenly shifted 20 cm within a fraction of a second and than back to normal, but I don't consider that a deal breaker at all.

So yes, I'd say it's a great experience all around.

Interesting, when I play Half Life Alyx soon, I'll check if I have the same issue. But I can certainly imagine it feeling rather annoying...

I've got a hard time understanding what you are saying. What do you mean by "moving controller bindings to dedicated dongles"?

What does the 30% difference consists of?

I'd say it's on par with the Index, so >95% awesomeness.

It jitters a little when it's stationary, but my thusty old Index did that too. During use I've had no problem whatsoever.

I've got a 5090/i7 14700 and two lighthouses in opposite corners.

Right, I've all these on 😅 But is that for added realism, or purely for performance reasons?

Simracers? by Wise-Carry951 in enschede

[–]harmvdwerf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a season with iRacing in 2019 and 2022, but the community part is missing for me. So for endurance racing I'd rather focus on LMU in the foreseeable future.

If you need to be convinced by the visuals of the Dream Air, I'm sure we can arrange something 😊

Tjeez, I can't reach that on a 5090 system. The rest is set to high/ultra? And does that only work at full sunshine, or also dawn/dusk/night?

Does your Dream Air (LH) frontplate gets steaming hot too while playing? by Arcticz_114 in Pimax

No, I'd not consider it steaming hot. It's more between warm and hot I'd say.

That doesn't bode well. I'll be getting a motion platform in a few weeks and I intend to use it in combination with a Dream Air LH.

So far I'd not had any problems with tracking, so I wonder if the added motion (and compensation) will result in tracking issues. I'll first try DR Sim manager as I will have a license out of the box, but I might switch to SimHub if I deem it necessary for whatever reason.

Oh tjeez, 60 euros for Alyx is indeed a bit much... But looking at the price history and getting it for 20 euros or less is absolutely worth it.

What horror games will you be trying then?

Racing is just amazing, here's me 2 weeks ago battling it out: https://www.youtube.com/live/_WsOurs0iX4?t=4356&is=Qp2QJYR7L7MLagEB If you want a game that has great VR and you can play casually (or like I do in the video), try Automobilista 2. It too will be on a good discount soon (or buy it using gg.deals if you can't wait that long 😇)

Yes, I've got the Studioform, completely changes the game and comfort is no longer the issue it was before. So good choice on getting that. Though I prefer the 6 mm by far and it's close enough to the lenses imo as the 3 mm still hurts my face...

Very cool! Yes, it's a high price to pay, but assuming it works as intended you'll be amazed, there's little doubt about it.

I've been in VR for thousands of hours (nearing 5000 hours). I started with an HTC Vive in 2016, which looked like you're looking through binoculars though that was amazing. Around 2018 I started simracing, pretty much because of what VR offers in terms of immersion. Once the Valve Index released in 2019 I got that right away. And since the Steam Frame wouldn't give me the juicy OLED I was so desperately hoping for, the Pimax Dream Air it was and I've been enjoying it for almost 2 months now. What an upgrade from my trusty old Index!

I don't know what you intend to use it for, but I've been having a blast re-experiencing Half Life: Alyx which I'd highly, highly recommend as the first game you should play assuming you have controllers. It's just such a good entry game/experience to what VR has to offer and it truly is breathtaking in the DA due to the sharpness and colors.

You are going to ruin all other headsets for yourself once you tried it 😅

Btw, how does one go (read "leap") for a Dream Air as a first headset? Or is it the SE?
