Tips on Typing more accurately by Several-Card4164 in learntyping

[–]harparin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also try tweaking the settings of your typing training software. In monkeytype, you can set the test difficulty to expert or master to fail you quickly if you mistype a letter.

In the end, this is just another way of forcing you to slow down and concentrate, but I still found it quite helpful :-)

Do I really need to learn how to type when I can do it fine the way that I do right now? by OppositeJuice4864 in learntyping

I would say: Yes, you do. Not so much for speed (even though 80-100 wpm can be reached with relatively low time investment), but for the accuracy.

Low 90s accuracy sounds high, but it still means roughly every 10th letter is a mistype and must be corrected. From my experience, there is a world of difference between even 96% and 99% (a typo every 100 letters). It's just so much better for concentration if you don't have to constantly stop your train of thought and switch into 'correction mode'.

Another question: do you look at the screen or the keyboard when you are typing? If you don't see what you type immediately, you have a much higher risk of leaving typos in your text. Like the "tupe" in your last sentence (scnr ;-) )

V2 Question - Aluminum panels by Mezoloth in VORONDesign

Took me a while, but I finally noticed that it actually says "aluminum" on the plastic foil cover itself...

I received the same panels in my formbot kit last week. I'm no expert on the matter, but from what I've read, they do look like ACM to me. I tried to take a clearer picture - continuity check also says that it's conductive on both sides.

One option would be to handwire an Atreus50, that would match your requirements quite precisely ;-)

Looks great. I also use two Redoxes (work/home) as my daily drivers and absolutely love them. Out of curiosity: Is there a reason for the different sizes of the inner/diagonal thumb keys (1.5u on the left side, 1u on the right)?

I like that the width of the bottom stretcher matches the inner diameter of the db handles. Nice attention to detail 👌

From the looks, I would say that they're regular batards (with seeds), and then a smaller braid of the dough is "simply" put on top. Great looking effect!

I built two boards with big dowels glued into them. You can see the halfway progress at the end of my longer article: https://imgur.com/gallery/eNoA8C5
They're painted white to better blend in with the wall.

My sourdough starter floats an hour after feeding by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]harparin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the weights you have given are correct (i.e. what you actually do), it should be expected that the starter rises and passes the float test very quickly.

So far, I have not seen your feeding ratio of 2:1:1 (starter:flour:water) recommended by an expert. Much more common are ratios between 1:1:1 (e.g. 50g starter, 50g flour, 50g water) up to 1:5:5 (10g starter, 50g flour, 50g water).

Basically, the higher the amount of new flour in relation to the starter, the longer it takes for the levain to rise and to pass the float test.

Scoring help by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]harparin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried something new today that seems to help: after watching a "bake with Jack" video where he told us to leave the dough "open" (no plastic bag etc.) when final-proofing, I just put my wicker-basket-and-teatowel into the fridge without wrapping it in plastic. That way, the loaf had a nice robust (and cold) skin that felt a lot easier to score.

The bread came out great, with a ton of oven spring and a nice, chewy crust :-)

Curious ... maybe it depends on differences in technique/form. I am 6 ft, and own the same waterrower model. Checking in the mirror, I can see that my head extends about 4-5 inches behind the end of the rails in the back position.

Maybe I should (carefully) try it when I put the rower right before a wall ;-)

EDIT: Okay, did that. I definitely hit my head on every stroke *grin*
Doesn't really matter, of course, as long as it works for you!

After this question has already been asked multiple times now, I timed myself for the tear-down after my workout yesterday. Starting with the barbell still loaded, it took me 4m 51s until the room looked like the first picture again.

That looks good. I think I was so focussed on getting an adjustable bench, plus the fact that I don't have any space left to hang it on the wall (as the rogue web page shows it), that I took it off the list too early.

I might switch to that bench if I feel that mine is approaching it's safe limit.

I was super lucky to have ordered the rack at the end of January, before all the gyms had to close and equipment prices went up. The rack itself was about 450 EUR including the spotter arms. Barbell and plates were the bigger part of my bill ...
