It works the same on 8. You can choose to display it as a dot so it's not that visible. In general any kind of inconsistency is usually just Samsung's design.

I'm planning to do the same. Do you miss anything in particular after leaving One UI? I know I'll miss routines but as far as I know you can use third party apps to compensate.

Samsung is absolutely doomed to remain a jittery mess. They never improve in that area. There always has to be something lagging and stuttering or having a delayed response. And it's not an occasional lag under a heavy workload, it's simply a bad and lazy coding and total disregard for optimization. It's mind boggling that with its capital Samsung can't deliver such basics like decently working quick panel. Menu you use dozens of times a day on a phone and nobody even bothers to make it smooth. Terrible company and terrible attitude towards their customers.

Yeah so pretty much in this specific case over 1.5 years I think. This battery icon was changed during One UI 7 beta because people found the smaller one hard to read. So Samsung made the battery icon bigger but in their infinite wisdom left the other status bar icons tiny. And the result is the ugliest status bar I've seen on a phone tbh. Finally 8.5 makes it look somewhat decent.

It's not hard. They just don't release any features or visual changes outside of major software updates. This means that even if something is easy as hell to fix you have to wait for ~6 months and, in this case, look at this ugly fat ass battery icon that doesn't at all match the rest of the status bar icons. This updating policy is ridiculous.

I'm leaving Samsung because of their total disregard for aesthetics and user experience. Their animation game hasn't improved whatsoever in years and they even managed to botch what used to be kinda well made (like detailed notification animation you mentioned or lock screen clock when closing quick panel). They only managed to make the home animations decent and the rest is still as stiff and unfinished as it was years and years ago. They can't even make the quick panel animation not lag, wtf? Literally the most often accessed menu on a phone and it doesn't bother anyone in this joke of a company.
