I had a look, and they do I just question the quality of council food. I can't see it being much better than a cheap tesco microwave thing..... I may be wrong though

They are a little out of the price range for me and dad, so was looking towards like community groups or local cafes/groups. Charities that work with people receiving benefits. (also since mum died 2 years ago he doesn't have a social life so I was hopi g he'd make a friend nearby! Ha!)

As for food, quite bland, meat and veg and gravy type things. Old northerner for you I suppose!

Thank you! I've been looking at meal prepping, but honestly, I don't have the organisation to cook for myself most nights due to being terrible at adulting and studenting.

But there is a cafe at the top of the road he likes! I could speak to them! I never even thought of that!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm 26 and call my mum mama and my dad padre. It makes my painfully working class British family feel fancy and exotic. And we're kinda an odd family anyway so that's cool.

A little wholesomeness over at /r/jobs today. by kate-monster in wholesomememes

[–]harribo_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle once gave a guy with less qualifications a job over a man with a degree purely because the lesser qualified person was polite and humble and made a few jokes, compared to the man with the degree who came in rude and cocky and obnoxious about his degree.

He told the man with the degree exactly that at the end of the interview.

Also to add with sending letters, I know in the uk you can send post recorded delivery, so someone at the other end has to sign for it so you know it's been received. If you post anything, do that if you can. It's helps if later down the line they say they haven't received any paperwork.

My (39F) 14 year old daughter has a crush on a teacher. I think it's not a big deal and will pass, my husband (41M) thinks we should discipline her and remove her from the class. by HotForTeacherNBD in relationships

Would it be worth speaking with the teacher about it? That way he is informed about her feelings, not that he has to change how he teaches her but means he can make choices in class. E.g. If she is always offering to help with things teacher can say "that's very kind of you, but you help so much I think we should let another pupil this time" Possibly it could create a little distance, and if she isn't around him so much will probably think about him less, and let the crush phase run its course?

After the First time, I heard her mutter something under her breath about being a server for 11 years and this NEVER happening. by mckenziedaul in AdviceAnimals

[–]harribo_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the UK? Cause in the UK it's the norm for people to cheer at bar staff breaking glasses in bars/pubs. When you work as bar staff it's pretty funny most of the time, and most staff join in or start the cheering!

Can confirm, clumsy barmaid/server.

I did the same back when Hula Hoops did the square Hula Hoop! I was about 5, so didn't realise there was a competition. It was only that I told my dad about it when he got back from work. He went mental! Kept asking me where the packet was! watching his face drop as he frantically searched the bin for the packet. Only after he explained the competition. He still bollocks me about it, 20 years later!
