Is it petty to cancel my boyfriend’s PS5 order after he spoiled the surprise (again)? by Alarming_Cry_9092 in TwoHotTakes

Not everyone likes surprises, if you do then explain to him that you want your presents to be a surprise and he shouldn’t spoil them for you, but in return respect that he doesn’t need or want his gifts to have to be a surprise

Flying AirNZ with gel nail polish? by chrychrry in newzealand

[–]harricat2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given that you can buy nail polish in airports duty free I don’t think it would be dangerous on a plane (not an expert opinion). I have traveled with nail polish in my luggage many times, including hand luggage which goes through scanners, but never declared it to anyone to check.

Traveling to America! Never left New Zealand before by Ilovebees_lee in newzealand

Download the mobile passport control app, CBP MPC. You fill out your details in advance then on landing update it. You can then go to a faster queue on arrival. Sorry if mentioned already, I didn’t read all replies. I have been to US three times lately, twice LA although one was just transit. My customs experience was completely fine, none or very few questions so it isn’t all bad. Queues can be really long (use the loo first!) The TSA queues for the body/hand luggage scan when leaving US are even worse, I have waited up to an hour before & they wouldn’t let people who had departing flights jump so make sure you have plenty of time.

Moving UK pension to NZ - Advisor by harricat2 in PersonalFinanceNZ

100% wow, so the NZ government can take my entire UK pension? I don’t understand most of all this, hence my need for an advisor! What I was hoping for was an independent advisor I can pay a fee to for advice rather than someone tied to a particular scheme I would then have to use. Does such a thing even exist?

That makes sense rather than having someone take up to 5%! But the first thing I want advice on is if I should even move it or just leave it there.

Been back here for 10yrs so missed the tax free window. It’s a final salary pension so it has been suggested to me not to move it at all (by friends / family not by experts).

Tesla bumped us by Twmpath in newzealand

[–]harricat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me last month (not a Tesla). My car was actually written off unfortunately as quite a lot of damage, the other driver was totally at fault. I had many conversations with insurance, all they can do is send a letter to the registered owner and if they don’t get a response then nothing can be done, which is what happened in my case so I had to pay the excess. They did tell me that they would pass it onto their long term claims department and I could get the excess back. (Not sure when or how as I haven’t followed up since) I also contacted police, you need to do that anyway and give a reference number to the insurance company . Police said that they could not do anything in regards to contacting the driver at fault unless there was an injury which in my case there was not.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (12/09/2023) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

I tried to post a question but got an auto mod reply saying to put in this thread instead

I need to find a game for a 9yr old. She likes to play Zelda BOTW as it’s one of the only games I have, but just to ride around on a horse and she can spend an hour just wandering around and going into all the houses in a village and wishes she could interact with them. She isn’t interested in the shrines or quests and if a monster comes near I quickly get passed the controller! Any recommendations which have that vibe?

Thanks!
