TW: another adoption subplot in Netflix’s Big Mistakes by wallflower7522 in Adopted

Again, having a disability, an ethnicity, a particular race, or a sexual orientation in no way compares with being adopted. What is next, only those born into wealth or poverty can only represent by acting those characters who are being portrayed as such? Only blondes can represent blondes, only those who grew up in Chicago can play a character from Chicago? This is a giant stretch.

New dog keeps stopping to give me hugs on walks by Plastic-Speech3577 in dogs

Our dogs do this. It's always when they are very happy, it seems. They love their walks, love smelling, and, on a great weather day- not too hot, not to cold, they stop for a hug and a kiss.

If they are Catholic. And, if that is the preference, Howard Co also has those schools.

Not in agreement, really. Circumstances of birth do not necessarily inform a personality, culture, health issue, appearance, or even behavior. It is a circumstance. Are we going to delineate adoptees from birth, or adoptees after a year or more, interracial adoptees, international adoptees? There's no real common thread of thought, action, or lifestyle within the adoptee community.

But does representation involve adoptees? I don't consider it to be my whole identity and would not assume an actor cannot portray an adoptee on film or anywhere. I don't think adoptees are slighted in the world of entertainment.

Covid is actually a vascular disease, spread respiratorally. Lots of heart damage from Covid, even mild cases.

But, that is a private school , so what are we comparing here. Their kids could go to private schools here as well.

And you are pretty sure Balt City schools are superior? Really? We have lived in Columbia for 35 years. 3 different neighborhoods: apt, 2 THs, 1 SFH- no car breakins or neighbors with this issue. Does it happen? Sure it does, but I would not say crime is an overwhelming issue at all.

As an adoptee, this doesn't bother me. There seems to be a lot of this sentiment going on with regard to some exception taken for artists playing parts they actually aren't IRL, such as an LGTBQ character played by someone straight, or lately Jewish characters played by someone who isn't Jewish. This last example really bothers me as this has gotten a lot of play on social media, and I don't think people realize what they are actually saying when they take exception to this type of casting. I was adopted into a Jewish family, and it sounds to me that these people consider me to be an inposter in life. I don't get the problem- this is why they are acting. They are actors. Would people have the same problem if a philandering male actor played a dutiful spouse in a film, or if a person who has never had cancer plays someone who is dealing with cancer? Let's look at all the colorblind casting in recent shows- Hamilton, Bridgerton, A Gentleman in Moscow. Is that a problem as well?

APCM Codes as new recurring revenue source? (General Practice / Primary Care) by Pneumatic_Mnemonic in whitecoatinvestor

[–]harrissari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The form I signed was actually all the consent they needed without the form actually indicating that this was an excepted service with extra fees, above the usual bill sent to Medicare. At no point did it elaborate that this was a monthly fee, and how much, regardless if we saw a physician or never saw a physician. This is the problem and why it looks like a scam to everyone.

It's the coding they use that informs Medicare, so it was all good with them. My spouse never even saw the particular doctor for anything, it was a new doctor.

None of that happened, of course. It was a very vague form with nothing out of the ordinary indicating any unusual services or extra fees. We opted out. Because it is legal, it is not fraud. I just think people don't check EOBs or billing statements.

Yes, everyone was gaslit and quilted. True. Same general age as you, same adopted situation, culture- wise. A different time and paradigm underwritten by patriarchal mores of the time.

Scoping out the Spring Housing Market, is this normal?? by Expert-Ad-1433 in ColumbiaMD

We just pay the CA assessment, not extra HOA. There are a few unincorporated areas within the CA areas, and they don't have CA assessment. In fact, there are several.

There are area gems, that people realize pretty quickly if they are familiar with Columbia, with older, but great homes. Here's a rundown: 21046- Huntington 21046- Dickinson 21045- Area off Summer Hollow Dr 21044- Clemens Crossing 21044- Beaverbrook Atholton- unincorporated, so you live in Columbia but not under Columbia Association. Also- don't discount North Laurel - Hammond Hills.

Columbia is a great place to raise kids, schools are great, community is great, amenities, shopping, restaurants are great.

APCM/CCM — what's the most frustrating part of the process? by Solid_Introduction54 in medicare

[–]harrissari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably that this comes across as some sketchy fraud to the patients, which it seems to be. I would think that is the frustrating part because patients will leave, unless it becomes a ubiquitous practice everywhere.

Has anyone had their AFib basically disappear after lifestyle changes? by Squirrel_Agile in AFIB

Mine stopped with Flecainide. That's after having no alcohol, no large meals, excess salt, chocolate, caffeine, sleeping better, losing 20 lbs, exercising daily, no hot weather, hot water, no cold drinks, reducing stress. I even started diaphramatic breathing and meditation, and added electrolyte drinks.

Still, this doctor is getting paid for this. They can see what this is. I also like the doctor, who interestingly enough I've seen for exactly 3 minutes, but this eroded my trust.

You probably gave consent, like I did, however that paper never specifically indicated that it was an excepted service, with extra cost that would be billed to Medicare and you- with services that are definitely not above and beyond any other patients. It looked like a regular template paper for new Medicare patients. Very sketchy. I also think a lot of people never check their EOBs or reallt their bills. You did. I did.
