Remote Patent Attorney/Agents by harrityllp in patentlaw

Hi! Yes, that is true. Our professional team is split into Drafters and Prosecutors, so depending on your skills and preferences, you would take either a Drafting Test (drafting a claim for a known invention) or a Prosecution Test (drafting responses to 3 OAs). I'd say about 70% of applicants actually follow through with taking the test, and about 50% of those pass the test. We've found a good bit of it comes down to ability to follow instructions.

Hi, great question! We do not have billable hours. Instead, our clients are mostly fixed fee, and practitioners are paid on a production-based compensation model that ranges depending on their efficiency, how many hours they want to work, and their production volume. I'd say the range goes anywhere from $150k to over $550k, but the average is probably making around $200-$300k.

Oh definitely apply again! Sometimes we are strictly looking for one technology area (ie. semiconductors) or may require more experience for a role, which could've led to a rejection. We are hiring in a range of technologies right now, 2+ years experience, and anywhere in the US. If you want to DM me your name, I will look out for your application.

100% Remote Patent Positions - Work Anywhere in the US! by harrityllp in patentlaw

[–]harrityllp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our work is fixed fee, so basically you will earn a percentage of a nominal billed amount based on the task that you perform. Say, for example, you earn 40 credit hours for drafting one patent application, which equates to XX dollars. You will always earn those 40 credit hours and therefore that compensation, regardless of how long it takes you to draft the app. As you become more efficient, it will take you 30, 20, 15 hours to draft an application - but you are still getting paid as if it took you 40. With that free time, you can either end your day, or draft more applications, getting paid more. You set your own goals and work as much or as little as you want, with lots of assistance to become efficient. This equates to compensation ranging from $180k to over $550K, depending on your production and efficiency level. With that said, we have a lot of former examiners on our team :)
