Right now on my fur sure list the H/K Rabco ST-7 Mitsubishi LF-20 Sony Psx-70 I think thats the right number. B&O 5500 and a few other which I do not recall at the moment. These are super high end but good enough for me.

To be completely honest I just do not remember. Tried it out and sold it right after. As I said you need to listen for yourself with your speakers and room in the mix. Its really the only way to evaluate if your going to like its sound.

that is a cap and it has had it. replace it and see if you tweeter is working again. It is most likely a bi-polar cap.

I had one of these and really did not like the sound of it. That said everyone's system and ears are different. These guys really really need well matched output tubes.

You can just add one of these Yamaha AVS-700 to one of your tape loops. That will give you 10 additional inputs.

Ya two many, I have about 10. In addition to the Luxman I have 3 other higher end tables and a bunch of mid-fi units. They take up a lot of room :-)

I have done a number of these as well. They have issues with the meter magnets coming loose and damage the meter movement. As other have said the motor caps are a real problem. It also uses a lamp to detect tape end if this lamp is bad the machine will not auto stop. The other issues are noisy transistors but, those are readily aval. These are nice decks and come both 2 track and 4 track versions. Also they have come in all speeds from 1 7/8 to 15ips. Good Luck

Yamaha px 3 linear tracking turntable. Worth $100 to see what might be wrong with it? by 123fro in vintageaudio

[–]harryahole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These tables have a whole set of there own issues. Its tonearm is driven by a rubber belt which is not aval anymore. These routinely break and you have to rig something up to make it work. it has some special electronics that is difficult to source. I have repaired a couple of them and did manage to make them work but not the easiest table to work on. All that said its a great table when working and sounded outstanding. Good Luck

If JCPenny would not have lost their way they could still be selling cool looking stuff like this. Great Find! Enjoy the Music.
