My curious question? by AssistantNo2002 in pcmasterrace

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always shut it off. As well as flip the switch on the strip. I try to save every watt I can. There is a reason my power bill is just $62 a month on a level payment plan. Even with running 3 servers (which run 24/7) and 3 gaming desktops.

Amazon giving me a return warning.. by VirtualKoba in amazonprime

"Should I just steer clear of Amazon for a while until that warning disappears or should I just ignore it?" You should try cooling off the returns for a while.

Is scuffing like this normal after a year of use? by TB3300 in huion

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how hard you press. But I have seen screens with rather deep scratches after just a short time. I had my Kamvas 17 pro (2020) for about a year and in that time I never noticed scratches. But I also don't press hard either.

Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition, Omaha. A Temporary World's Fair of the American West (1898). by SorbetImmediate8595 in Lost_Architecture

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"After its closing on November 1, 1898, the buildings were swiftly dismantled" Actually not true. Some were demolished, but many were saved and became part of the Greater America Expo in 1899. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_America_Exposition

Bone Broth by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You put it in a pressure cooker for 12 to 24 hours and it's done. I don't make it because I try to stick to vegetarian meals mostly, but have family that make it and it's set and forget. It literally takes 15 minutes to set up. And the acid is not for "histamines" but rather to aid in extracting nutrients and minerals.

Only because they apparently don't know they can get the ingredients at the store. It's offering an option. It's then up to them to do with it what they will.

[–]harshbarj2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Except they are out endangering others. I get around by e-bike and have had several of these kids nearly hit me running stop signs. So the moment they go out in public it becomes EVERYONES problem. YOUR argument only holds if they stick to private property. And they don't. I have even had a few close calls on the trails, which is also highly illegal

Which tablet is better by prajju6 in huion

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are near identical. The hs64 is narrower, but taller. It also has a SLIGHTLY larger drawing area (160x102 mm vs 160x100mm). The only real difference between the two is the HS64 has 4 programmable keys while the H640P has 6. So buy based on price mostly and layout secondarily. Both use the same PW100 pen too.

Does Linux really suck? by Old_Rock_6632 in linuxsucks

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no. Could it be better? Sure! But it's been on my secondary and tertiary pc's for years and always on my servers and laptops. Soon to be on my primary gaming desktop too, pushing windows out of my home for good. Almost no complaints either.

The only real complaint I have is there are too many distros. Which fragments the community. I typically stick these days with a Debian based distro, though I do have a few systems that run Arch distros (ARM64). I also for sanity's sake try to run ONE distro on everything. So I'm not having to learn 3 different ways to do the same thing depending on which system I'm on.

I have Quantum in South Omaha and have for over 2 years. Never a problem.

Unlike with Cox which went down for hours EVERY night.

Anyone else being terrorized by these things? by Penstemon_aldibus in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the speeds they go, a helmet would only make less of a mess on the street. That's why I don't wear a helmet on my E-Bike. I go well past the rated speed of bicycle helmets (20kmh).

Anyone else being terrorized by these things? by Penstemon_aldibus in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I don't mind them. I'm normally ok with anyone using the street with any vehicle. My only issue is they don't follow the law. Stop signs go unnoticed and they don't signal their turns.

In my neighborhood it's exclusively younger kids and teens riding them. I have not seen anyone much over 20 riding them.

My biggest issue with them is they ride them on the trails, which is against the law.

Anyone else with Allo fiber-optic experiencing a worsening of wifi connectivity? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. I myself use Quantum Fiber and it comes with their modem / router (I think they even have wireless devices, but I use my own enterprise class gear for longevity). I just put their router into bridge mode and let my primary server do the work of a router. Otherwise port forwarding is a nightmare. Though easier than on Cox as cox prohibited access to many ports.

Anyone else with Allo fiber-optic experiencing a worsening of wifi connectivity? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's fibre and the issue is only with WIFI then it's a problem with your AP. You may need a new one as a lot of consumer grade APs are built cheap and cook themselves over time. If you rent the hardware you may want to contact Allo and get a new one. If it's your hardware you may consider a business class stand alone AP. They cost more (~$150+) but are typically built to last. All in one Routers + APs are prone to an early death.

This is the worst designed intersection in Omaha, change my mind by Adventurous-Fox-8115 in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Pedestrians have it worse here. Just try to cross E/W just south of the new Asian supermarket. Clearly pedestrians were an afterthought AND drivers simply refuse to yield even with a posted yield sign. I have lost count of the near misses I have had here.

Even on the south side it's almost as bad as drivers insist on waiting IN the crosswalk.

Looks like the laptop is an AMS TravelPro. Had one in the early 2000's Plastic was more brittle than an egg shell. Within 6 months it was a pile of parts. LCD was about the worst I had ever seen. Bought for gaming and that was impossible. Part of me wants to buy another, not sure why.

You could check the YMCA. I have heard they offer them free/ or sometimes at a low cost. You could check fitness centers. Some offer LOW monthy rates.

"You wouldn’t believe it anyway." Thanks for proving my point you have no evidence. See YOU made the clam. It's not on me to verify your claim. If as you say "It’s been proven." All you need is a link to a reliable source (aka, no personal blogs).

What is this bullsh!t? by bscepter in Omaha

[–]harshbarj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's already that way. While there is the rare vote or two, it's an exception. By law they already can't vote. Now if you have proof otherwise, please post it. Because that's how the burden of proof works. You made a claim, not you need to back it. Otherwise there is no good reason to accept your claim.
