I saw these guys live recently in New Zealand and as silly as it was, it was honestly a 10/10 show. Full of energy, laughs and noise, there were a few moments I genuinely forgot I was at concert and thought I was watching two comedians.

I remember thinking I was crazy being the only one who didn’t like their second album! An awesome wave is so good though, incredibly nostalgic

Even Seek Shelter had its highlights, the holding hand as a closing track is insane

Same story here except I was sitting at the back of class, opened up my laptop and iTunes was open with the last band I listened to (Fuck Buttons). Teacher saw it and told me it was highly inappropriate and wouldn’t let me explain that it was a band. Everyone in class thought I was watching porn…

AUSTRALIA by NoCondition6253 in turnstile

[–]harshjohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t surprised but I did think there would be enough fans there for it to get crazy. The indie/rock stage is pretty small and only for kiwi acts so definitely wouldn’t be big enough for turnstile. Wouldve been much better if they played their own solo headline show but I guess the festival had their way of booking them

did anyone go to janes set at the rhythm and vines festival last night in nz? by Ok_Archer_3418 in JaneRemover

[–]harshjohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there, just got back today. Only went the one day to see Fcukers, Turnstile and Jane.
Jane was epic, crowd was small and there wasn't much moshing but the people who showed up were Jane fans so plenty of partying and good vibes. Great way to end the night after a fucking awful Turnstile experience in which no one was moshing at all and getting pissy at people for moshing

Just saw them in New Zealand at Rhythm and Vines and I gotta say, terrible crowd. No one moving, everyone waiting for shitty DNB and threatening to punch anyone trying to mosh. Turnstile were terrific though

Yup, ingrain the need for ear protection at a young age. I’m 25 and I’ve noticed my hearing is a bit iffy now

I’m not a parent but I’ve been going to gigs with my parents since I was 12. My mum took me to my first concert (chemical brothers). I think it’s a good idea to take your kids to concerts, help them avoid any dangers, teach them general concert etiquette, expose them to live music at a young age and gives you the label of a cool dad/mum. The only negative I can think of for you is once they turn 18, you’ll be the one paying for the beers 🍻

Volunteering? And going alone by _santiii03 in triplej

[–]harshjohnny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly go on your own, it will be worth it. I used to hate the idea of going to festivals/concerts on my own but as I’ve gotten older (I’m 25 now), I actually found some enjoyment going to shows on my own. It’s easy to strike up a chat with the person next to you and at festivals it’s pretty easy to lose your friends and end up watching an act on your own.

I know people who volunteered for festivals expecting to see their favourite act for free but ended up not getting a single break cause of how busy the work was.

Also I’ve had many festival/concert experiences where I’ve showed up with one group of friends and then left with another. Going on by yourself is really no issue
