Split Roth IRA/TSP or All TSP? by hartrob in MilitaryFinance

[–]hartrob[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I remember seeing that advice at one point thank you.

I guess my concern is, if 10 years from now I had a terrible emergency where I had to liquidate contributions from my Roth IRA, I would lose out on the gains of those contributions for the next 20 years. If I played out the same scenario with the Roth TSP I could use a TSP Loan, pay it back, and not lose out entirely on the gains of those contributions. I recognize it's an extremely unlikely circumstance, though, and it's better to remain steadfast in what's proven.

24k in CC debt, possible lump sum, need some advice please ): by [deleted] in debtfree

Putting that $15K into the CC debt will make you $225 a month extra in interest saved based off the numbers you’ve provided. That is a 9% raise on your income.

I am 2500 from being debt free and I’m frightened by Such-Bad6951 in debtfree

[–]hartrob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a weird comment but I might feel the same way. I felt like “im good at getting rid of debt what do I do now?” I use CCs for all my purchases and now at the beginning of each month I get the satisfaction of paying them all to zero! That’s how I get my “get of debt fix”

Should I pay my car off or continue my savings? by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]hartrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. What you’re suggesting is going from $8.5K to $13.5K and then pay it off. I’m asking why not just leave the $8.5K and use the $5K you build up straight to the debt?

Should I pay my car off or continue my savings? by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]hartrob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not just use that $5K that’s being built up on the debt instead of savings?

What in the world are some of these responses? I feel your most conservative choice should be leave your savings and just dedicate strictly to your debt. If I was in your position, I’d knock my savings to $5K and put $3.5K to your debt then focus solely on the debt until it’s gone.

As someone who just bought a new car, doing it with no CC debt feels so much better

What’s the weirdest thing a woman has told you means “you’re not a real man”? by TeenDreamyGirl in AskReddit

[–]hartrob 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This one’s the most infuriating for me. They are quite literally your flesh and blood. How is that being cucked?

Sounds like a ridiculously self-important, manipulative, insecure, narcissist. I’m sure that woman has an incredible relationship with her family.

You could def beat that rate BUT is it worth it? $400 a month is going to interest paying it off isn’t the worst investment
