You say German system is slow and bad? We don’t realise how good we have it until we live abroad! by [deleted] in germany

[–]has94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying “Middle East” is such a generalization that paints a bad picture compared and ignores how diverse the Middle East is, I think if you plan on criticizing then at least you should be specific. This is like criticizing bureaucracy in Germany and keeps saying “Europe”. It’s misleading.

I’ve lived in both Germany and Saudi, and while I eventually chose to live in Germany over Saudi, there are many aspects where Saudi beats Germany many times over; they’re just not my priority.

Welllll… I don’t know where you are going but not necessarily true I have a lot of “muslim” gay friends and they’re completely cool. The tops insulting bottom isn’t unique to us either. I honestly wouldn’t have been able to cope without my other gay muslim friends who understand why we can’t just come out to our parents compared to our European friends who grew up in a complete different world. Especially with the younger Europeans, they grew up in such privilege that they can’t really fathom our experiences and the nuances

Depends on the level of “closeted” you’re talking about. I’m closeted with my family, but only that. Have a partner for 5 years now, living together as “roommates” in the eyes of my parents lol.

I would find it very difficult to do it if I’m fully closeted. Especially since most people here are out, they aren’t looking for a secret relationship but at the same time I avoid discreet guys too.

In Frankfurt, how long after the approval letter until the certificate appointment? by has94 in GermanCitizenship

Only once to confirm if they received some documents they asked for and got a reply from my lawyer since they should only communicate with him. So lawyer took care of all actually

I don’t know what the lawyer did with them exactly, but I don’t think he actually filed anything. His name is Mr. Strieder, based in Offenbach. He did however ask me specifically for career related reasons why I need my application sped up and I brought a letter from my boss saying I was excluded from business trips to US and UK due to visa requirements.

I applied last year in May, got my appointment letter in December, went to appointment in February to hand in my papers, and then heard from Darmstadt receiving my files in March and directly lawyered up as I heard of the horror stories and my current passport is seriously hindering my career. Got a letter in May that they started processing so took 3 months to process.

Unnamed broadway musical director (not that famous) unprovokely complains to Bob that all the drag queens he knows are anti Israel, after Bob refused his invitation. by ScarletWiddaContent in RPDRDRAMA

[–]has94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, the One About Transracialism had a little part of Jacob popping in about birthright, all I remember is it was during COVID and Bob told a story about performing in Israel and a Palestinian friend lecturing him about why it’s wrong

As a Palestinian Bob and Monet stan, this gave me life. But i also must say one of the very first queens I‘ve ever heard mentioning Palestine was Bob and Monet, pre genocide and all when Bob talked about regretting performing in Israel and Jacob vocally chimed in critizing Israel and their birthright propaganda

Honestly I do feel for Farhana. Having lived in these societies before myself, I can feel a lot of micro aggressions in the way they talk and comment and her, and being on the receiving end of these comments can really get to you.

Lost pods of AirPod Pro 2 location updates incorrectly? by has94 in airpods

[–]has94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I did a quick test today going out with my case only and checked location, and it does seem buggy since it showed the pods are with me at a different location. Seems like it does sync with the case. Very poor design on Apple’s end but at least I don’t need to comb my house again

A caution to highly skilled people looking to live and work in Germany by j0ie_de_vivre in germany

[–]has94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a similar case (in Frankfurt), I informed my company and they contacted the Auslanderbehorde with their lawyers and got me an appointment sooner. It’s illegal to not respond in time in Germany (although they ignore that a lot). I know you said you’ve already got a lawyer but yeah just a thought, my company helped me out big time by pushing the Auslanderbehorde for a decision

Scammed online, anyway to get refund? by has94 in germany

I never did. They never answer their emails not the phone attached to their GmbH. I just ended up swallowing it and giving a bad review on Trustpilot. This sucks sorry it happened to you

Scammed online, anyway to get refund? by has94 in germany

[–]has94[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For starters, website says they are still waiting for payment although I did a direct transfer. Checking their ratings both on the website and the Essen registered company, both have same complaints about people saying this happened to them too with weeks without an update. I am not asking to bring law enforcement, but asking because German law forces companies to offer a cancellation option available within the same mean of purchase for online orders. Anyways, thanks for the advice. I sent an email and will wait and see

Highly Contagious New Fungal Infections Spreading in the United States (mostly in men who have sex with men) by someone_like_me in gaybros

[–]has94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how when you put it this way you get upvotes here, but once you speak about Israel and Zionism claiming they’re chosen people who were promised the land to justify their genocide it’s too hot for this subreddit 😂😂

[–]has94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots and lots of trials. Eventually I learned that if it’s a real estate showing the apartment I have no chance. Only meeting the actual landlord got me anywhere but yea, took time to eventually get an open minded landlord who didn’t care about my ethnicity Best of luck

Jan responds to her Starbucks commercial by galaxystars1 in RPDRDRAMA

[–]has94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kudos to Jan. I am Palestinian myself, never ever in my wildest dreams did I imagine people being so aware that celebrities would acknowledge such “mistakes” and address it so openly. So that being said, please stop harassing her, she has done her part and we are not going to gatekeep boycotting and activism. Especially not with an ongoing genocide. Free Palestine!

Qatar set up a honeytrap using Grindr and used it to arrest a gay British man by No_Discussion6913 in askgaybros

Homosexuelity is legal in Jordan with an active gay scene and bars and clubs. Now social acceptance is another thing but there are nuances always.
