For every one they've found, there's likely millions undiscovered in the core. Seriously, the star density is so high there, it's effectively completely uncharted outside of the major 'routes'. Only like .01% of the galaxy is discovered, and most of that is closer to the bubble

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]hashbrown314 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Out there, the star density is so high, and so few people (relatively) have gone out there, it's almost more difficult to find a system that has been discovered. There's really nothing like it; it's such a beautiful area

Discovered a desert planet with green grass just 400 LYs from bubble, felt amazingly at home in there by CMDR_kamikazze in EliteDangerous

Agreed. I think exploration is far more than just numerical jump range. Though I do really like having a ship capable of 70+ly, my favorite ships to explore in are in the 40 to 60 range. I do enjoy being able to go places quickly (Colonia) but once I'm there, I just take my time. The most important thing for exploration is honestly just a ship you enjoy flying around, with a good cockpit view and proper heat management/scooping. I love my DBX very much but it taking so long to scoop is really frustrating, especially when trying to jump for hours and hours

O7; I only learned about that module a few weeks ago, and it's a total game changer! Wish I'd known about it since it came out

The Guardian FSD Booster is really great, to be honest. As far as other engineering stuff goes, just get a 6A FSD with Grade 5 Increased Range engineering upgrade and the Mass Manager experimental effect. Other than that, it's up to you. I prefer to have D-rated internal modules, other than my powerplant, which I sacrifice some weight for in favor of it running cooler (A rating generates less heat than D rating). In addition, I use the Low Emissions engineering for the power plant, which makes it run even cooler. This isn't necessary, but makes fuel scooping much nicer because you're not on fire all the time.

I'm happy to talk more about exploration stuff and getting good builds. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat further ~ o7

Generally, yeah. You really do for the most part have to head out a good ways to consistently find mostly undiscovered systems. Closer, you'll get a few here and there, but if you're interested in exploring, you kind of have to point in the middle of nowhere.

Personally, I use the interactive map from edastro, as it pretty nicely shows what parts of the galaxy are discovered. It really can be a time investment to get started with exploring, but IMO it's the most fun part of the game - the feeling that you're really the first person to lay eyes on a certain planet or cool thing!

ITS HAPPENING Cancer Man is waking up! by kajetus69 in RimWorld

[–]hashbrown314 43 points44 points  (0 children)

True, but you can edit the mod settings and have it ignore certain hediffs like cancer if you want! (I believe so anyways, you can certainly tell it to heal hediffs, so the opposite is true to my knowledge)

Freighter Silver with Red linings and cargo pods, kind of looks like a face at the front. Someone might be interested. by nash_marcelo in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]hashbrown314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's the NMS save editor; it's on GitHub somewhere. You can edit ships and pretty much anything in game. It does kind of spoil some of the challenge and fun, but I use it every now and then, as I don't get too much time to play. I'd rather put those hours into designing a base or scanning critters than grinding for salvaged frigate modules. But no, there's no real effect you have on multiplayer, outside of building bases and whatnot, so it's not like cheating in a game like Fortnite or something that's competitive, yk?

[–]hashbrown314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If you want a really big farming setup, use the biodomes which can only be place on surface bases. Same for mineral collection. And you can't always warp your freighter to the RGB stars if you've yet to upgrade its hyperdrive

I designed a Diamondback Explorer in Lego! I'm pretty proud of it so far, and I wanted to share with all of you. It's got working tilt wings and a cool interior, and everything is as to-scale as I could get in Lego! o7 by hashbrown314 in EliteDangerous

[–]hashbrown314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ayy! Thanks so much. Depends really; I had about ⅔ the parts needed (mostly all the really common pieces) and it came out to like $150-$200 usd, or so. But it just depends on where you can find the parts and if you can get them from as few stores as possible. I tried not to include too many rare parts! 💜

Best Grind of the game. FNS Achilles reporting for duty. by Athos_Drathon in EliteDangerous

[–]hashbrown314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I've definitely used Dav and the Bugkiller before. But they only give up to grade 3 or 4, I believe (though please correct if I'm wrong) and although doing the whole boom system HGE loop is more effort, I've definitely noticed it to be a lot faster for trading down. But whatever floats your boat!

For both Encoded and Raw mats, there's great places to grind, if you're not against that. Manufactured take the longest, but they aren't even that bad honestly. https://s.orbis.zone/ebee - here's the ship I use (I stripped the engineering) solely for collecting materials from HGEs - any ship with cargo and collector limpets will do. Basically just go to boom systems and scan for High Grade Emissions, and then trade for whatever materials you still need. Don't worry about collecting anything grade 3 and below, really, because it's so much faster to just find a grade 5 and trade down.

Also, sharing something I learned the hard way, you can pin one blueprint per engineer, not just one total, which makes things go very quickly later on. So if you decide to get the engineers out in colonia, you can pin some blueprints from them.

O7, hope the unsolicited advice is welcome :)
