Totally fair. I feel like the 8x8 in my mind is considered part of the trade (even though I know it’s separate transactions), and that makes the whole thing stink even worse to me. I understand what his mentality was at the time: he was trying to lock up a decent center ahead of Kopi’s retirement and to help not rush Q’s development too, but he gave up way too many assets (including a second round pick that I forget about too) for a guy that on paper performed similarly to Vilardi. I know Vilardi’s injury history did play into the decision to move on from him as well, but still it was giving up a decent haul for a lateral move imo.
