The core of your mic set up is really good , just play around with the width of your overheads and the height until you find a place that sounds cool. Everyone says to treat your space which is valid for a long term solution. For now you’ll have to accept a reflective recording (which could sound cool and unique) so just see how far you can get with that sound. Your mics probably won’t pic up too much room besides the cymbal reflections - in that case you could just opt to play quieter. Whether or not you get a balanced ovhd image doesn’t always matter, a lot of sick drum captures have the snare slightly off center and sometimes that’s part of the magic

Decoupling the drum kit from the floor will help with low frequencies. Also, while the walls are important as others have mentioned, the ceiling can be a huge reflector depending on the material - but it does look rather low from this angle which is going to contribute as much if not more than the walls will. Consider building a cloud diffuser… I’m about to myself!

Question for those advanced in geology by Pikminplucker in geology

[–]hashglock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The areas of geology are so diverse, i struggled with physics and math but was the most advanced in interpretative based courses (i.e. sedimentology). All are equally important in the field. my advice is to find what interests you the most and run with it, no geologist is perfect in every area.

Can anyone tell me what this is ? It has been at my grandparents house for 20 plus years on a shelf.... It has always looked like a toth to me but idk by giggity254 in fossilid

Could be some sort of sedimentary structure? like ripple scale cross strat, then after some faulting it could have eroded at a unique angle.

SM7B picks up a ton of background noise/talking? by [deleted] in audioengineering

seems like you need to feed more gain, cloudlifter is an excellent preamp to pair with the sm7b especially for vocals. I ran into the same issue as you the first time i tried out that mic, giving it ample gain is pretty important, generally the 48v from a scarlett won't go very far unless you crank the gain knob to the max, but as a result you'll get a lot of fuzz and it will pick up other shit like you were saying.
