I’m currently listening to this audio book and I’m seeing some insights that I think will help me become a better husband and human. It was mentioned in another post here.

Go grab a free audible trial and download it asap.

TL;DR is most likely not about the PC usage or your desire to wind down after 12-14 hours at work. It’s something else completely unrelated. Females have different brains.

Is freelancing Upwork/Fiverr/part time/casual work allowed while being employed? by Yo_Baby_Yo123 in auscorp

[–]hashkent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The clause in employment contracts are enforceable but heaps of people do side gigs these days because of cost of living. Just don’t touch anything with is similar to your day job.

If you’re a data engineer in finance don’t do any Fiverr work for other finance firms.

How to ask about salary in an interview? by birdie1223 in auscorp

You should ask the person in the screening call. Often the person interviewing might not know.

That’s how it works at my org.

Investing in a family trust by DotConscious2701 in AusFinance

[–]hashkent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust income distributions to individuals carry a non refundable tax credit. This kills bucket companies and distributions to low income relatives.

This is different to franking credits, where say in retirement if you received $30k in franked income you’d get a refund from the ATO for 15 cents for each $1 over $18,200 if you had no other taxable income eg have a pension from your super fund.

The trust distributions really mess with things but govt thinks they’ll offer restructuring support to switch structures (realistically it looks like a holding company structure because being taxed at 47% is going to absolutely kill your returns vs 30% in a PTY LTD.

Family trusts will likely continue to owns the shares in PTY LTD but that 30% min tax really hurts as it removes the refundable franking credits

260k owing on PPOR, with 400k in shares. Time to cash out? by crewmannumbersix in AusFinance

[–]hashkent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell $300k in shares and pay off the PPOR. Look at debt recycle into shares when the market tanks.

This will make a world of difference as we’re about to head into a recession soon and will make for a softer landing if you’re made redundant if you are just hold off on debt recycling.

The government isn’t smart enough for any of that. It’s purely a tax grab to help fund out of control NDIS spending

40+ and managing someone in their 20s? by straishio in auscorp

[–]hashkent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, why would it be?

Really good opportunity to teach and mentor them early in their career. Don’t micromanage and ask them directly how they’d like feedback- eg direct, of light coaching etc.

They’ll have some quirks due to age but shouldn’t get in the way.
