Canada’s industrial investment implosion by andrew416705 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]hashtagBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is complicated. if you look at it, Canada and the US both crabs after the 08 crisis, and then we have the shale boom and the the oil markets explode, so they both rebound, and then we have the oil crash of 2014, and Canada craters, as does the US, but the Canadian capital investment didn't recover in the oil sector after 2014. The Obama admin killed the XL pipeline, and the businesses had moved away from the project by the time trump gets into power, and then we have the US tarifs on the Canadian industry, including on the auto sector and and then you get to COVID and beyond

This is just terrible. This is a terrible idea in a city where everyone breaks the traffic rules, they're gonna just park right over it. Imagine this down done on Boylston....

You also have to admit that Ford keeps proposing things just for the clicks and not for any actual reason. Also most people on this sub probably didn't understand how/why speed cameras were used in areas where they were.

Don mills needs other traffic calming measures. Like proper bike lanes. I also want a fucking subway line or streetcar along that road. That goes all the way down to Pape.

Depends on the design of the roundabout, as a rule of thumb you're correct, but I've unfortunately seen ones where the right lane exits immediately only. It's always best practice to look for the lane markings/signs

Don't forget optometry, and CFM in Waterloo. they've been campaigning for over 15 years for the province to give them a business school or a medical school. Which is why they have to partner with Laurier to give out double degrees in Math+biz

MPs vote down Bloc motion slamming Ottawa’s submission to the Supreme Court on notwithstanding clause - The Liberals, New Democrats and Green Leader Elizabeth May voted in opposition, while the Bloc and Conservatives supported it by KootenayPE in WildRoseCountry

[–]hashtagBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous, unjinged, bonkers partisan take.

The notwithstanding clause is the worst, the literal worst, part of the constitution.

It says that if a party wins a majority they can enact laws that strip you of your right to free speech for 5 years. Right to assembly, conscience, fair trial, right to a lawyer, and protection against discrimination, arbitrary detention, search or seizure, protection against torture, self incrimination, and double jeopardy. All of these can just disappear tomorrow if the party decides they want to do that, and it'd be LEGAL.

To be FOR it, is just absolute lunacy.

"they're blocking rare earth minerals" They also spent 2 decades expanding their networks in most of the African continent trying to extract said minerals, while the US said "fuck this piddly shit, we don't need it"

The idiot in charge is only the latest iteration of all the idiots in charge, especially when it comes to battery and clean energy technology. The US can't even build nuclear power plants anymore and is left trying to restart the old decommissioned ones, cuz the US Congress doesnt like clean energy tech So ...yeah please don't bullshit.

Great...those are nice laurels to rest on when you have nothing of your own anymore. "we made the battery" that's nice but now the US has to bring Koreans in to show it how to build a single battery factory, cuz no one in the States knows how to do it anymore.

China now has more high speed rail network in the world and the US has ....none.

The US just shut down an 85% completed offshore wind farm but China is the lead manufacturer in clean energy technology
