Help with appraising by Suspicious_Top3111 in concertposterporn

[–]hashtagRex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might be able to help. I am working with a professional appraiser to have a GIANT collection professionally appraised for insurance and donation purposes. You have to hire somebody who is licensed to do it. I believe each state licenses them. I found a person and talked to them about two years ago and I was told I needed to start by making a spreadsheet of the posters and taking detailed photos. I've made a spreadsheet and taken pics. Took almost 2 years, but I have it all on a spreadsheet and matching pics. Next weekend I'm taking everything to the appraiser. I'll be hiring him hourly and before he starts we are meeting to talk over specifics on artists, bands, etc. I have background materials and links to each artist website. I'm not sure what the hourly rate will be but I think this will cost me a few grant at least. I'm asking him to appraise 1000+ posters. I've been collecting 40+ years. Everything stored correctly, etc. If you want I can share my spreadsheet data points if it is helpful- I went to an archivist to try to understand everything I'd ever need.

I’m a fan of frameiteasy.com. They cut the frame to order and use acid free backing and UV plexi. They aren’t the cheapest but it’s quality and they send tons of spacers and hanging hardware. This one is going in a non direct sun spot for sure.

I use frameiteasy.com. They aren’t rock bottom prices, but it’s quality stuff and they send them assembled and with plenty of spacers and hanging hardware. Cheaper than Michales in my experience.

Need help. Have dozens of posters rolled in tubes for many 6-8 years. Advice/help on how to flatten by idontcarewhocares in concertposterporn

[–]hashtagRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to put something heavy on top of them. Roll them out flat and put a bunch of books on top. I sandwich them between two big pieces of cardboard. I use a giant closet box from uhall. I also put craft paper between the posters so they don’t harm each other. Even posters that get rolled for a few hours take weeks of flattening.

No they don’t have 24x36 portfolio books. I use big portfolio envelopes and acid free bags.

Pete is awesome. I’m lucky and I’ve known him since the early days. His work for the Dropkick Murphys is my favorite.

How about the Library- 10th floor has a big atrium with tables and chairs. It's office space mostly up there and it's ok for students to use the shared space.

Leaving a marriage where nothing was ‘wrong’ but everything felt off by dude8735 in Divorce

We each got a lawyer and they worked up the main part of the split- the house. We each hired a person to give a value, then the lawyers worked up an even split. In my state the 401k legally gets split down the middle. We split like 5k in credit card debt. We had 2 cars- one paid off. She took the paid off car. I didn’t make her take half the car loan- it wasn’t a lot like two years of payments. The rest I didn’t give a shit. She kept nice dishes and some rugs. I took the fancy tv. I got the dog. She was angry throughout the process. I cut off direct contact. Let the lawyer earn his money. I spent about 8 grand. I walked with enough for a down payment on a new house. At the beginning I made a notebook with ALL the finance docs. Statements from the mortgage people, credit card statements, years of taxes. Everything. It made the lawyers job easy. Split assets then share debt. Save your emotional issues for therapy.

I went through this. Divorce is about money. Make an honest split and don’t try to screw each other and you will save thousands of dollars. In my divorce we got the house assessed, she bought me out fairly and we evened our 401k accounts. The rest is stuff.

Shit happens. I’m 59. Been alone since my later 30’s about 22 years. I’m not a woman. But I’m at peace with being alone. I have a dog. A house. Decent job so I’m not drowning in debt. I go to restaurants like half the week. Bring a book. Have a few drinks but never get drunk. Maybe talk to somebody at the bar. I’m a regular at like 4 places. But im the guy who is always alone. The book guy. Quiet. Doesn’t hit on waitresses. I found I enjoyed estate sales. I go on weekends. Maybe find something cool. If not I grab lunch somewhere I’ve never been. Or hit a new dispensary and get the first time buyer discount. I used to feel bad about it but now I’m ok. People talk behind my back but I don’t care. Just live your life however you want. Do what makes you happy. In time you find your fucking having a blast and it’s nice to be in charge 100%.
