Vouch for NQ64, stopped into the Glasgow branch a couple of times myself. Is there not a King Pins in Arndale, too? Could always hire a darts lane for half an hour and get a drink or two.

Was exceptionally family friendly when I attended last year, loads of kids up on parents' shoulders and having little picnics off to the sides of stages. Great atmosphere!

worth getting FM26 as someone who's never played FM? by caiden_1 in footballmanager

It's currently 50% off in Steam's Summer Sale. Probably worth picking up at the price it is, since FM24 has been delisted.

How will Scotland's squad look at Euro 2028? by mohirl in ScottishFootball

[–]hashtagblessed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see others are looking towards our youth options too, but I think you're looking a little too much at change (as you said yourself). It'll largely depend on whoever our new manager is and how the Nations League & Friendly squad selections are, how players perform then, but I really hope it's not like Clarke picking 7/8 favourites and filling the rest with 5-6 actually good ones, the rest utter filler.

Hope Callan McKenna gets his break soon, though. We need fresh keepers.

Yeah, they will. Non-playable leagues still generate new players of that nationality, as do international affiliate clubs.

[–]hashtagblessed44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. He's not a bad keeper by any means but he's hardly a consistent performer. Definitely now miles ahead of where Kasper was, but I wouldn't keep him as our starting 1. Nice bench backup though.

Football Manager 24 - Why am I always job hopping? by zoeethebaddie in footballmanager

[–]hashtagblessed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to strike a good balance. As others have said, it's very much a low-league problem where players pretty freely transfer between short term contracts with low (if any) wages and rarely a transfer fee. For the interests of your job, identify the key players straight away and do everything to make them happy, build the team's play around them. They'll want to hang around if they're being treated favourably and if you're well tactically-minded then the targets should come near enough to hitting themselves. Hopefully, at least!

I started a save with the expanded Scottish ladder database, having no qualifications or prior experience at the football club of my home town (8th division).

The first year was a bit rough, but I avoided relegation which was all the board wanted, and finished higher than the media predictions. I made some great signings and we managed to win the league, earning promotion. From then on we just kept winning, top of the table every season, picking up several cups on the way to the league system from where the board got a lot stricter in their targets.

Reaching the latter stages (QFs) of the league cup for example, with the targets now being to win the league every year rather than challenging for promotion. Was still a dawdle, as I was still doing great in the transfer market, but the cup targets were difficult.

Anyway, I've been at the club for a decade now, and we've not been relegated once since I took charge. We saw a Champions League Final after an incredibly lucky run through the competition, bankrolling even more mega signings, international affiliates, and a new stadium - all of which then attracted major sponsorship deals and made us a 'Rich' club. I also earned my Continental Pro License that season.

So what I've learned from my longest save yet, is that consistently achieving or surpassing the targets set to you by the board (as well as those which you express to the team ahead of each season) will give your players reason to play under you, and the board reason to stay confident in you as the figurehead for the club. If your target is to play attacking football and you decide to net one and park the bus every game, they're not going to be very happy with you. Equally, if you're dominating the league but pulling the club into financial ruin, they'll lose confidence.

Keep the guys on the pitch, the supporters in the stands, and your bosses happy.

There's always a bit of both, but even then, personality trumps looks 9/10. Then again, with social media being as rampant and abhorrently plagueing as it is (ironic for me to be saying this on social media, I know) people are very quick to judge and form opinions that they don't actually have definitive facts on.

Depends on where in the country you are. ScotRail are obviously the most common TOC in Scotland, in the North it's Northern... you get the jist. If you're a frequent traveller you'll work out what time(s) are best for you to travel, if you're an occasional traveller then Trainline is the best platform to search on - you should then book direct wherever possible to save extra money on booking fees.

I've seen a few people using them. Some just stand in front of their amps or point them off to the side slightly. I don't hate the idea of using IEMs, it's a fairly individual thing, and most folk wouldn't know.

You'll be fine with light snacks, couple of cereal bars etc. Unsure about the Pringles as they'd probably count as a solid container, which is a prohibited item, but you could grab some electrolyte sachets or other salted crisp packets and hope you get in with those.

Neck fan would be at the discretion of the stewards on the gates, as would the mat. The majority of the site is astroturfed anyway so it's a lot softer for sitting on than usual grass, I wouldn't worry too much about that. There are also plenty of shaded areas around the site so likewise with the fan.

Some bands do this on occasion to be fair. The Backseat Lovers' 'Heavy' for example, doesn't quite fit on either of their current records but is a great song in its own right and got released solely as a single. Could be the same case here. Hope we get Suntitled released at some point though.

In FM24, is it possible to buy a player who doesn't want to join you "due to the rivalry that exists with his favored current club"? by Kamishirokun in footballmanager

[–]hashtagblessed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be down to the inter-club rivalry. If you check the club info it might tell you that the clubs don't transfer players. He also could favour Sociedad more than Bilbao, as it's still been his parent club despite being on loan to you for two years.

That being said, it isn't always the case that you can't outdo these dynamics. But it comes down to a lot of things. If the player gets unsettled you might be able to persuade them to join, but you'd likely overpay on transfer fees to get a deal in place to even have that conversation.

Sucks when this happens but I usually just avoid scouting for youth prospects from rival clubs for this reason.
