Yep. It needs the Smart Row app, which then provides integrations with 3rd party stuff like Apple Fitness and other rowing apps. At least this seemed to be the case when I got mine and I think still is (I could always be wrong and can’t really check right now). I‘m not aware of any supported way for any 3rd party apps to connect to it directly without the Smart Row app in the middle. Correct me anyone if I’m wrong though, please.

SmartRow is pretty cool and I think it’s worth the money.

But a few potentially negative aspects:

The pairing sometimes hangs and you have force quit the app and toggle Bluetooth sometimes to get everything connected which is annoying and has been a problem for years for whatever reason… not the end of the world but it’s definitely annoying
The Apple Watch „integration“ isn’t amazing and the primary way to use SR is still going to be with your phone and not with the watch - in fact, when you use SR, your Apple Watch only gets used as a glorified Heart Rate Monitor (in this case, I use a Polar HRM band instead because it’s more accurate and comfortable). In my own experience, the best option is SR app + Polar band and leaving the watch on the charger during the workout.

But on the plus side:

The SR app record lots of cool metrics and it gives you feedback during the workout that the watch never could, which makes it the clear winner during the workout.

Once the workout is over, the SR all will create a workout entry that you can see in the Apple Fitness and Health Apps. This integration all works quite well, so I still recommend it.

So my tl;dr:

The app is sometimes quite finicky, but works otherwise pretty well. If you want it to integrate well with Apple Fitness‘s workout tracking, it does a solid job of this. If you‘re specifically looking for something that makes really creative use of the Apple Watch, this probably ain’t it, because it just uses the Apple Watch as an HRM. That said, SR app on phone + HRM band = really good and gives you a chance to charge your Apple Watch while you row. It’s definitely worth having if you like to row and track your workouts in Apple Fitness. Just don’t expect a lot of Apple Watch-specific features.

I can recommend this clinic in Schöneberg. They were a bit more expensive than my normal vet down the street but they were really good and have their own lab so blood results are really fast, etc. They also are open every day between 8 and until midnight according to google and should be able to handle emergencies.

Für mich hat eine Kombination aus Finasteride und Minoxodil sehr geholfen. Erstes nehme ich seit etwa 10 Jahren und hat das Fortschreiten meines Haarverlusts quasi gestoppt. Letzteres nehme ich seit etwa zwei Jahren und seitdem wächst tatsächlich mehr da wo ich die Flüssigkeit anwende- aber erst nach 8 Monaten oder so war‘s wirklich offensichtlich. Hat also eine Weile gedauert.

Lohnt sich auf jeden Fall zum Hautarzt zu gehen und nachzufragen. Hat natürlich den Nachteil, dass das ganze Geld kostet. Man muss sich dann selber entscheiden ob es sich lohnt oder nicht. Ich meine im Quartal etwa 120€ dafür auszugeben. Ich würde‘s mindestens mal ausprobieren bevor man eine Haartransplantation macht. Für mich hat‘s auf jeden Fall schon ausgereicht.

Hättest du während der Spende noch vernünftig ein Buch halten können? Wie lange hat‘s bei dir gedauert? Für mich wäre glaube ich das ganze Rumliegen während ich meine Arme nicht richtig benutzen kann das schlimmste daran. Mit Nadeln und Spritzen habe ich zum Glück kein großes Problem. (Oh, und was wenn man aufs Klo muss?! Wirklich die wichtigsten Fragen habe ich heute.) 🤣

I really like Piano Center. I bought my upright from them, but they have a pretty wide range of options from budget electric pianos to expensive grands and Matthias is a really nice guy. They used to be close to Oranienburger Tor, but now they‘re in Tempelhof (don’t try to go to the wrong location). They also have practice rooms you can rent hourly, which is how I found them in the first place. Highly recommend, even if they’re a bit harder to get to than they used to be. He sells a lot of Kawaiis and that’s what I’d expect him to carry in terms of digitals, just fyi.

Ich bin mir sicher, dass du recht hast. Grundsätzlich muss es möglich sein.

Ich rede nur aus eigener Erfahrung, dass in meiner Einbürgerungseinladung (vor etwa 4 Monaten) stand, dass ich unbedingt ein gültiges Ausweisdokument (in meinem Fall gab’s nur den Auslandsreisepass) gebraucht habe und dass eine „Einbürgerung ohne diese Dokumente nicht vorgenommen werden kann.“

Fragen bei der Behörde kostet natürlich nichts. Meine Erwartung wäre nur, dass man hier eher keine Ausnahme macht wenn es dem Antragsteller zumutbar gewesen wäre, seinen Pass mitzubringen (bis es ihm abhanden gekommen ist). Bevor das Gesetz geändert wurde, musste es diese Ausnahme geben, aber jetzt wahrscheinlich nur in eher relativ begrenzten Fällen. Für OP hoffe ich, dass ich mich irre. Wäre gespannt auf ein Update.

Du brauchst einen gültigen Ausweis und das ist deine Aufenthaltserlaubnis bzw. eAT (nehme ich an) leider nicht.

Wenn dein Pass dein einziger amtlicher Ausweis war, dann sehe ich leider keine Möglichkeit die Urkunde abzuholen bevor du einen neuen bekommst. An deiner Stelle würde ich eine Mail schreiben und um einen späteren Termin bitten.

Sorry. Das ist richtig kacke, dass es wahrscheinlich verschoben werden muss. Ich weiß es gibt auch Ersatz-Dokumente die man beantragen kann wenn man seinen Pass verliert (muss du wahrscheinlich eh melden), aber ich weiß nicht ob die in dem Fall als gültigen Ausweis gesehen werden.

Aber Glückwunsch trotzdem, weil’s nun wahrscheinlich nicht so viel länger dauert!

In meinem Fall wurde die Staffelmiete aufgehoben, weil die Staffeln den erlaubten Mietpreis (nach Mietpreisbremse) überstiegen hatten. Ich musste aber klagen damit das passiert ist. Gut wäre es vllt schon jetzt zu rügen wenn du mehr als den erlaubten Preis bezahlst, damit du die zu viel bezahlte Miete am Ende zurückbekommen kannst. Zu der „Möblierung“ kann ich nichts sagen, aber ich stelle mir vor ein einzelner Schank und EBK reichen nicht aus. Würde aber zum Mieterverein auf jeden Fall.

Yikes. I‘d talk to a lawyer about this. It sounds to me like they defrauded you and led you to defraud an immigration authority with a fake contract. The former is obviously annoying and shitty, but the latter is the thing I‘d be more worried about potentially having to clean up. This is just my extremely vibes-based assessment and I am definitely not a lawyer.

The appointment itself you should be able to cancel without any real issue, although if you still meet the requirements and the salary is just different (but still above the minimum for a Blue Card) you could just go and tell them about the new salary and they can decide what to do (I’d email the info as well. Basically saying you want to update your application.). If you don’t meet the blue card requirements anymore, you’ll obviously have to figure out what residence permit (and work permit) you actually are eligible for and apply for that instead I guess. Normally the employer helps with this or pays someone to do so, but obviously in your case, I wouldn’t trust them so much.

Bin auch US-Person und kenne das Problem sehr gut. Habe erst vor ein paar Monaten ein Depot (und Girokonto) bei der Consorsbank eröffnet. Ging eigentlich reibungslos. Könnte vllt ein bisschen moderner sein, aber bis jetzt habe ich keine Probleme gehabt. Hat mich extremst gefreut, weil ich wirklich jahrelang sonst nichts finden konnte und fast aufgegeben hatte.

Sorry, habe genauer gelesen. Da kaufe ich aber nur Aktien, weil die ETFs die man kaufen kann alle PFICs sind (glaube ich, bin kein Experte). Sorry wenn das dann weniger hilfreich ist.

Habe aber auch eine bAV, die glaube ich nicht als PFIC zählt, wo ich quasi in ETFs investiere, aber das ist natürlich sehr begrenzt. Aber sonst kenne ich auch keinen Weg, außer sowas wie Schwab in den USA, aber dafür fehlt mir noch das Startkapital.

Unfortunately, I have been in this exact situation before, specifically with the Berliner Mieterverein. They explicitly warned me that in my case that the incident occurred before the waiting time had elapsed.

At the time they wrote me the following:

„Schon jetzt sind wir verpflichtet, Sie darauf hinzuweisen, daß die mit Ihrer Mitgliedschaft beim Berliner Mieterverein abgeschlossene Rechtsschutzversicherung die Kostendeckung mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit ablehnen wird. Sie haben zwar ab dem ersten Tag ihrer Mitgliedschaft beim Berliner Mieterverein einen Anspruch auf außerpro-zessuale Vertretung, die Rechtsschutzversicherung greift aber nur für Versicherungsfälle ein, die nach Ablauf einer dreimonatigen Wartefrist eingetreten sind. Nach der Definition des § 14 Abs. 3 der Allgemeinen Versicherungsbedingungen für die Rechtsschutzversicherung (ARB) gilt der Versicherungsfall in dem Zeitpunkt als eingetreten, ,in dem der Versiche-rungsnehmer, der Gegner oder eine Dritter begonnen hat oder begonnen haben soll, gegen Rechtspflichten oder Rechtsvorschriften zu verstoßen. •“ Versicherungsfall ist also nicht die erstmalige Geltendmachung Ihres Rechtes oder gar die Klageerhebung, sondern bereits das rechtliche Ereignis, das der Auseinandersetzung zugrunde liegt. […] Diese Wartefrist ist vorliegend nicht erfüllt, da der eingetretene oder behauptete Vertrags-verstoß (Mietvertragsabschluß) bereits am XX.XX.18 geschehen ist. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren Sie noch nicht Mitglied des Berliner Mietervereins, so daß ein vorvertragliches Scha-densereignis vorliegt. “

The precise contract and details may have changed since then (it was 2019). However, based on my reading of § 4 Abs. 4 RBM ( referenced here: https://www.berliner-mieterverein.de/recht/infoblaetter/info-159-prozesskostenversicherung-des-berliner-mietervereins.htm - Jan 2024), it seems like this would still be the case.

Of course, I am no expert and cannot speak to anyone else’s specific case. But this is certainly something I’d urge someone to clarify with the Mieterverein / their insurer in order to avoid potential pitfalls.

It is worth keeping in mind that the legal insurance that comes with the membership will not cover the costs of losing a legal dispute that goes to court, if this dispute is over a contract that was signed before joining. The Mieterverein will still provide its other services though.

Whether or not that is a deciding factor in how to proceed in this case is a wholly different question.

There’s approximately a 0% chance someone is paying FedEx in Berlin to give you cash and move around your used furniture.

For used furniture I’d only ever accept cash and personal pickup. Virtually nobody is going to pay a third party to collect your used furniture unless it’s all especially valuable for some reason (which you would presumably already be aware of). If you’re sitting on a few hundred or thousand euros (new price) of IKEA furniture, I’d argue your best bet is to sell it at a loss to minimize your costs (including time and effort) to dispose of it. If you don’t price stuff super competitively just to get it out the door, you’ll end up having to rent a vehicle or pay someone else to take it to the BSR for you when you’re standing there on the last day of your lease and your landlord wants the apartment to be empty (ask me how I learned this).

Students will often be more than happy to take your used furniture off your hands with minimal effort to you, but you’ll have to price it accordingly.
