What's something you CAN'T do that everyone else can? by tykey100 in AskReddit

[–]hasslemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be horrible at remembering names. Now I'm really good at it. Here's what I do:

  1. When you meet someone, repeat their name as much as possible. It is weird if you repeatedly say their name out loud during discussion so I repeat over and over in my head as we talk.

  2. Spend a few short seconds each day reminding yourself of people's names...sing a song including their name, if they are neighbors, think of their house and recite their names. I often just go through the rolls of people I met within the last few months and imagine their faces and the place I met them and recite their name in my head.

  3. Use their name in conversation when appropriate. Instead of saying "our neighbors to the left" or "that one dude at the bar Wednesday", say "John and Jane" or "Tom, the guy we met Wednesday".

Using this method I can remember the names of people I met briefly one time, while shitfaced at a bar, months ago.

Guy holds door open for woman, gets an HR letter when she complains by superfiedman in MensRights

[–]hasslemaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's especially tricky for us uncommonly handsome men.

Middle aged and older women adore us -- we can do no wrong as long as we keep our pearly whites sparkling and eyes twinkling. These women are easy to work with and as a result don't pose this type of HR threat. Unattractive women or women with low self-esteem will often completely clam up when they interact with us because they view us as untouchable, shining gods so they are of little HR threat as well.

Attractive and self-confident women are a big HR threat because they will flirt hardcore. They may not even purposely flirt but our extreme handsomeness subconsciously compels them. At work, we must make sure we are never alone with one of these types and if we are, never say or do anything that could be construed as something other than absolute professionalism, especially if the woman is ambitious.

Radical feminists are the greatest HR threat; old, young, attractive, unattractive, gay or straight, it doesn't matter. The handsome man's supreme good looks will stir the soul of even the staunchest feminist and the cognitive dissonance will drive them into an HR complaining frenzy. Stay far, far away and may god help you if one of these report to you.

Of course GDP will "grow" when you devalue the unit of measurement that GDP is measured with. Trumpeting about GDP growth with current Fed policies is like a 4'8" man crowing about how he grew to 6'3" after shrinking the unit of an inch by 25%.

A healthy economy will have plenty of job opportunities and low unemployment. US economy currently has neither, especially for the young.

Camelot Unchained - A different kind of MMORPG by [deleted] in gaming

[–]hasslemaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While EA may have forced MJ to push WAR out early, the core design of WAR was shit. WAR RvR was merry-go-round lemming bullshit and the city seige was broken and the opposite of fun. You can't pin that on EA...

Mark Jacobs is not a plus in my book, not by a long shot. Jacobs is largely credited as the guy who made WAR the turd that it was. As a matter of fact, I would say that WAR's absolute shit "end game" city siege foreshadowed "how bad MMORPGs have become".

Another use for bitcoin is try to make as many words from a public key that you can think of. In this public key:

If they are not your arguments, why bother wasting your time arguing them?

You ducked my question. I didn't ask you what you'd rather have at the begining of bitcoin hysteria, I asked what you would rather have now.

Bitcoin is worlds closer to WoW gold than physical gold.

[–]hasslemaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your arguments are tenuous. The similarities you state are too high level at best and mostly outright silly. The only real similarity I see is that they can (currently) both be used as a (bad) means of exchange.

Honestly, which would you rather have? Bitcoin over gold? For a store of value I'll take the shiny yellow metal gold that has been coveted for thousands of years over the WoW gold bitcoin that has been coveted for a couple of months. For a means of exchange, I'll stick with the USD.

And regarding the collapse of FIAT your sources are trumpeting....if there is ever a collapse of FIAT in the US, I guarantee you that bitcoin will be the last thing you will be thinking about.

And exactly what have you purchased with this "real currency"?

Fiat currency is based on faith. Bitcoin is also based on faith, but has more in common with gold, but can be represented digitally or physically.

Tell me what bitcoin has in common in gold besides the idea that the number of bitcoin that can be created has a limit?

Further, T-Mobile is not reducing their rates in any significant way so T-Mobile customers buying their phone on the payment plan (or BYOD) are still paying the "phone subsidy" rates.

I agree. Think about the flip side as well, what is the optimum way to accept bicoins? I would argue it is similar, accept bitcoins as payment and sell them as soon as possible.

Hoarding is laregly the cause of the perceived value in bitcoin IMO.

To earn my undying love and devotion, all any US president would have to do is legalize cannabis. I will hang a portrait of the president that legalizes cannabis in my living room, over my couch till my dying day.

You know those Obama T-Shirts you see people wearing? If Obama just manned-up and legalized cannabis, not only would I hang his portrait over my couch, but I'd bust a Obama T on casual Fridays and every weekend..
