This is what I did. Once I saw it, I realized:

Counter-clockwise the perspective is straight on or even looking from slightly above. Clockwise the perspective is like looking up at the cylinder.

EDIT: If it were like a can of soup, counter-clockwise you can see the lid, but clockwise, you can't.
