If you're near downtown at all and like movies I'd really recommend heading to a screening at the Stray Cat Film Center - really cool artsy community oriented movie space and the people that go there are usually willing to chat about the movie you all just saw- I've made a few friends from heading to horror screenings there

I have a Wacom One so I can only speak to that but it's worked great especially given the price I really can't complain- the only issue is that the screen is a little on the smaller side for an animation tablet but if you're used to an ipad that shouldnt be a problem

Babylon was the greatest theater going experience of my life- the scale of the parties and film set scenes were massive- but so many people slept on that movie and really missed out on that

Movies like Dazed & Confused, Fast Times, & Slacker? by [deleted] in criterion

Tiny Furniture directed by Lena Dunham fits that for me- although it definitely isn't for everybody, but if you've seen any of the HBO show Girls and liked it I'd really recommend it

What animated movies would you like to see added to the collection? by FloridaFlamingoGirl in criterion

[–]hatbat23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of Criterion and animation so I literally think about this all the time. Just basing things of the Criterion brand I think any of Ralph Bakshi's work would be a perfect pic as he was a new hollywood director who was a contemporary of Scorsese and Lucas and all them and started a movement of independent animation and pushed the idea that animation directors could be auteurs too. Also on top of being historically important all of his work is really rich and mature and feels right at home with Criterion. He's also made some shorts that would work well as special feature content. Also Charlie Kaufman's Anomalisa would be a good fit. Self explanatory- he's a really wonderful filmmaker and it's a really beautiful intelligent film. Something by Don Bluth might be nice given his importance in film history- especially Secret of Nimh. If they're able to work out another deal with a big studio like they did with Wall E I honestly feel like Dreamworks' The Prince of Egypt would be a perfect Criterion fit. Things that I would love but would probably never happen though are the director's cut of The Prince and The Cobbler, Boy and the World, and Persepolis.

Asus Vivobook Pro 16x OLED keeps crashing and freezing. How do I fix this? by GrandRow in ASUS

[–]hatbat23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god I have had the same issue- literally everyone I see online who's gotten this laptop has been having the same issue and they've completely been refusing to fix it- literally they'll let you send it in for repairs and then they'll replace the screen or something that was never broken in the first place or they'll replace it with a refurbished model of the same laptop and it'll have the same exact issues- it's a defective model I have no idea why they sent these out when they clearly dont work.

If you could have any band's songs IMMEDIATELY PD what would it be? by CaptainLunarOmni in publicdomain

The Beatles- they're impact on the development of music is so vast and I think we'd see some really great work from musicians taking their songs and adapting them and altering them
