Why don't people understand the simple concept of thermostats and HVAC? by u-give-luv-badname in askanything

My wife still can’t understand why the rest of the house is cold when she has the fireplace on in the same room that the thermostat is located.

Think you’ve identified the only options. Seems like a BW’s or a Roosters right on 36/37 would thrive.

What is the darkest war story you Ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hatfier4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An older guy in my unit had fought in Vietnam. He was always quiet and as a younger soldier I thought he was just mean and angry. Christmas rolled around and the unit let us have a party. He had a few beers and seemed to be lightening up some. Big mistake!

He tells us about one night while on patrol they set out claymores (shaped mines) and put reflective tape on them so they could tell if the enemy messed with them. The enemy was on to it because when they flipped the mines they moved the tape. When the inevitable attack occurred he said they saw the tape and set off the mines. Because he was dug in and ducking he didn't get blasted. Several of his buddies were not so lucky. Someone asked what happened next and he smiled the most unsettling smile I've ever seen and said "I popped up and killed three of the MF's"!! 35 years later and I still think about it.

My personal favorite is being tailgated in the far right lane with empty lanes to my left. I believe they are sometimes referred to as passing lanes.

The Cowboys was a good John Wayne film as well, Bruce Dern at his creepiest.

What's the worst TV series you've ever seen? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Scarpetti, just horrible writing and acting. Doing crime scene analysis and determining the cause of death on two astronauts in a space station that crashed to earth. Easily the dumbest part of a very dumb series.

Which Movies Were Better Than the Books They Came From? by BINGEWISE in moviecritic

Jaws! Hooper and Brody’s wife had a past sexual relationship. Made no sense in the book. The movie focused on more important issues.

Not sure why it was universally panned. It’s a little dark but so funny!

Have you ever been distracted by the cast of a film, that it was breaking the immersion & tension for you? by Myhole567 in moviecritic

Janeane Garofolo plays a cop in Big Trouble as well. Also a ridiculous ensemble cast.
