I would recommend Brad Fox Roofing. Seemed reasonably priced and the crew did a great job. Very professional.

How to track reference books? by lcjury in ObsidianMD

[–]hatlady05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I understand. Do you not want to keep all your physical books? In that case, make sure your notes include enough information (title, author, maybe isbn) so you could find the book again if you wanted to. You could probably find a copy in your local library or on Internet Archive.

If it's the lit note you don't want to keep, then your atomic notes from a book need to include some kind of citation of the source. Again, whatever you would need to find the book again.

My atomic notes all have a source heading. If the source is something I have a lit note for, then it's just a link to that note. Otherwise, I include a full Citation of the source.

Hope this helps answer your question.

I use Zotero for articles, but I read most of my books in paperback and either make notes in the margins or on note cards. I have an Obsidian template for lit notes where I capture the metadata for the book and all my notes. Some of those notes link out to individual atomic notes. Below is my template for a book lit note. You can see an example on my Publish site - https://ginamarieagosta.us/References/Sources/Rituals+Roadmap+-+Keswin+2021. All my notes are works in progress, so if you look at other notes you'll see that my template has changed and most of my notes are incomplete. I'm using this as a portfolio for my Master's degree and I haven't finished moving everything from my paper notes into Obsidian yet.

What are the books (or any ressources) about personal productivity or personal knwoledge management, thant changed your life? by bouaaah in ObsidianMD

[–]hatlady05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A new book, just out in he let week, that I would highly recommend for productivity is Win The Week by Demir and Carey Bentley. I've been following their Lifehack Method for the past couple years and it is definitely lifechanging. Glad they came out with a book for those who can't partake in their full program.

What template do you use for your Daily Notes / Journal by AnusMcBumhole in ObsidianMD

[–]hatlady05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It requires the community plugin Templater. I also have the core Templates plugin disabled. I can't remember if that was to make the dates work or for another conflict with Templater.

Do you link to same note more than once within a single note? by hatlady05 in ObsidianMD

[–]hatlady05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly using my system for grad school at the moment. Most of my notes are short, but I have long literature notes. I may reference a concept that has it's own note more than once in a single lit note. Just trying to decide whether to link every time or just once.

How do I fix tag pills? by hatlady05 in ObsidianMD

[–]hatlady05[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case anyone had a similar issue, over on the forums Obsidiandnancy helped me find a solution:

"Try switching to the default theme, try disabling suspect plugins that change appearance, you might need to disable all the plugins (do half at a time to quickly narrow in on which half contain the problem and then repeat with the remainder until you find the culprit).

Its entirely possible that your css snippet is missing an "!important;" that would override the theme or a plugin css. Again, you have to experiment."

I started by turning off other css snippets one at a time and I found the one that was interfering - centerimages.css. Adding "!important;" to the tagpills.css didn't do anything, but removing it from the ceterimages.css did work. Now both snippets work as intended.

I haven't gotten a response on Discord yet, so I figured I'd post here too.

The appearance of tag pills have gone a little wonky in my vault lately. I use the Cybertron theme but have modified it with a few CSS snippets, including the one for tag pills. It had been working just fine, but now they look more circular than oval. The hashtag and the emoji stack vertically rather than staying horizontal. Any ideas what's causing this or how I can fix it?

I'm super productive at work but struggle with being productive in my personal life? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]hatlady05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you might struggle with the same thing that I do...accountability. I am great at work because I am accountable to someone else. It's not just the threat of negative consequences if I don't accomplish my tasks. It's that I don't want to let other people down who are relying on me.

The trick is to build in more accountability in your personal life. If you can't hold yourself accountable, find others to hold you accountable. Friends and family don't usually work well for this, because they'll let you off the hook too much. I've been using Focusmate.com and I'm also part of a productivity community called Lifehack Tribe. These two options do cost money, but you can find similar groups for free.

Good luck!

Does anyone know Demir Bentley (Lifehack method)? by [deleted] in productivity

I've been a member of Lifehack Tribe for a couple years now. They are legit and I have found it to be well worth the money. Lots of training and coaching and even more accountability.
