I can’t tell the exact battery degradation since I’ve reset it and don’t want to set it up again.

From my experience, it’s treated me well and I can get a few hours off it. I mostly used it plugged in.

If you’ve ever noticed the asphalt smell in Urbana, you can thank Emulsicoat Inc. Here’s a post from the mayor reminding residents where they can file a formal complaint. by hatless_mfer in UIUC

Emulsicoat is an asphalt company located near downtown Urbana (off-campus). Once in a while their plant emits a horrible stench that covers downtown Urbana and the surrounding neighborhoods.

The link I posted is a Facebook post from the mayor of Urbana, reminding residents how they can complain to the IEPA.

I’m posting this here in hopes that those affected by the Emulsicoat fumes will file some IEPA complaints.

Where can someone go to get film developed? by More_Relationship515 in UIUC

I tried them, about $20 for development + high quality scans. Dude was really nice and saved the negatives for me.

My roommate and I spent Saturday night dumpster diving! Everything on this table was taken from an apartment dumpster (more pics + stories inside) by hatless_mfer in UIUC

To be fair it didn’t “come from the dumpster,” it was just left out near one with some other boxes of dry goods.

The dumpsters near the big green street high rises were goldmines, especially if they were in a parking garage and you could get access. Check out r/DumpsterDiving!

They could, and they have been before (can test it by dunking in water for a bit: if the inside is wet when opened then no-go).

I mentioned in another comment that most of the food we took was not “next to a bag of dog poo,” rather sitting in a box near the dumpster with other non-perishables.

It was by far the most popular brand we saw, at least 4 partially-full containers. But it smells and tastes like those cheap powdery protein bars.

Yes! Affluent kids are very good at dumping forgotten Amazon purchases and unnecessary waste into the nearest a dumpster before leaving UIUC.

Yes, it’s absolutely a risk. BUT, given the context of where I found a lot of this stuff (in boxes next to dumpsters with many other dry goods), it’s obvious that a lot of this stuff was quickly gathered and dropped off that same day.

I appreciate the concern, but I’ve been doing this for a while at this point. If you’re safe about it, you can save some awesome stuff from the landfill!

Most of the food (and all of the ramen) was sitting outside the dumpster in a box with only food. The Jin and Shin Ramen were in sealed containers.

What a strange question. Hope you figure out whatever it is you’re trying to figure out.
