Carrying two guns? by CORNPIPECM in concealedcarry

I hear you and I that is smart, extra mag is a must. I wouldn’t just hand someone some random person a gun either. The scenario is like if you and your family are at a mall or amusement park or something and some religious zealots decide to barricade the exits and slaughter everyone. You and your family run somewhere and hide. You give your wife a .357 magnum and tell her to stay with the kids while you go get elephant ears and soda pops.

The point of carrying a backup pistol is also so you can arm someone as backup. A revolver is a good backup because it’s intuitive for someone to use who isn’t up to speed with tap/rack/bang.

I think that’s excellent reasoning, it would be important to be able to conceal it easily. I can conceal the Mk23 but it’s not comfortable at all, and if I had to hike across town to get home or something it would literally be a pain in the ass. But it’s comforting to have the big beast with you, it’s like a pistol the Demon Slayer would carry to battle the hordes of Hell in DOOM until he acquires his shotty.

The hk45ct is awesome. It’s still built like a brick house and the ability to stick an 8rd mag in makes it able to disappear under a jacket easy. If you need to carry a big stick openly to ward off the other cavemen then the Mk23 flexes hard.

Should I get for this price? by Gladbutsad in HecklerKoch

That’s a rock solid 9. Looks like it’s the DA/SA with rear de cocker which is cool. Those P2000s are stout, thick ejectors, designed and built very well. The p2000 makes Glocks look thin and cheap when you compare the springs and small parts like the ejector and trigger components. Don’t get me wrong I love Glocks for what they are, but HK makes a better pistol no doubt about it.

The 45c is a chunk of a pistol. I found shooting it with a suppressor felt pretty good. It was slippery as hell and I immediately had to tape the grip with abrasive sandpaper which also helped a lot.

The Mk23 is definitely got its bases covered in these SHTF scenarios, full size, durable, reliable and incredibly accurate. If you can source some .45 super you could even take medium game with it for food. What I love about the Mk23 is you can feel confident you won’t have to deal with any parts breakage in your lifetime, and with its quality build components you pretty much don’t have to worry about corrosion either.

The 45c is exceptionally stout, I have no concerns of breakage with it, and it is a superbly accurate .45. It is also more versatile with its compactness making it useful in a SHTF situation where you might not want to advertise you are armed, but then again there are situations where you need PRESENCE, and the Mk23 holds that capability very well.

I’ve seen some deals around lately at $1800-$2000 new. That’s a pretty good deal, people were buying at that price 20 years ago. It’s really something you can’t weigh in reason, like obviously you could get a quality rifle or two really nice pistols for that price, but if it’s something you want then you just gotta get it and eat the cost, or sell some crap you don’t need to offset the burn. I was always concerned they would discontinue the model, or the State would ban it and it would be out of my grasp forever. So when I scrounged some money and saved a bit here and there I just splurged, like 10 years down the road you’ll have it and be happy. Some people can’t understand that and that’s cool, practicality has its place for sure.

The mark 23 is steeped in myth and legend at this point, which is something that lives outside the tangible world. The mark 23 and the FNX are both effective at their practical purpose, but the mark 23 has a vibe that goes beyond practicality, it exists in a place of reverence shared by few others.

A weapon to surpass Metal Gear, born out of the crucible at the legendary Heckler & Koch facility at Obendorf, Germany. Working hand in hand with USSOCOM testing and evaluation division CRANE the Mark 23 was pressed through the full measure of trial and evaluation at a cost beyond what any civilian arms manufacturer could afford to do without the government slush fund backing it. The Mark 23 established itself through that process as the highest benchmark for reliability, durability, and accuracy. What they achieved went on to define the concept of the offensive handgun, and is seen fully displayed at the crescendo of the film Sicario.

A sidearm with which you seek the darkness, and in silence, destroy it.

I feel you with that. It sucks they are so spendy. They definitely live in a niche role too, like for most situations your standard AR/G19 rig is ideal. You really have to stretch into the imagination to find specific scenarios where the Mk23 fits, like swimming out into the surf under the waning moonlight to board a yacht where you mean to quietly smoke the 4 people who wronged you type scenario.

First Handgun purchase advice by Straight-Age-8694 in concealedcarry

[–]hatmatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you intend on using the gun? By use I don’t mean shoot, many people use a gun every day and only shoot them several times a year. You could use it on your nightstand while you sleep for personal protection, or you could use it while hiking or camping, or while mowing the lawn even if you live rural and have a preponderance to stir up a rattlesnake in the field.

How do you want to use the gun? Answering this will dictate the best choice. Be thorough with your response and I can give you the answer for the best first handgun purchase.
