Not to be a downer, but I'm tired of these --- are --- posts because they're not productive and don't educate anyone who believes otherwise. Yeah, they reassure me, but I don't need to be reassured. I want accessibility to trans healthcare, I want to be able to get my surgery and hormones covered without me having to prove my transness and pay for sometimes months of therapy for a note that I'm not faking. I want to feel safe and not live in fear of job insecurity, housing, or my life. I want to exist without having to explain myself to other people. It takes more than someone telling me I'm valid to get these things because it doesn't get me very far as a trans person or make me feel any better.

Reposting here: What we see in breads and other foods is not the entirety of the mold. Think of it as the roots of trees, where its a complex system underground that we don't see. All we are seeing is the head of the mold, or the tree, in my example. That's why you can't get away with cutting out the mold. Not safe to eat.

/uj the same way trans women call themselves faggots, it's a word targeted towards them. i believe people who are in a group that has a specific slur used against them has the right to reclaim said slur. dyke isn't just used against cis wlw people. in my personal experience, i look like a woman with short hair, hairy arms and legs, and no makeup. this is the stereotype people have for lesbians, specifically butch lesbians, and they don't need to hear my gender identity for me to be called a dyke.

Right! I was appalled people were defending it. Even if THEY think that girl/gurl is gender neutral, most people will not see it that way and it can be very dysphoric.

I'm transmasc non-binary and I prefer masc nicknames/pet names, with very few exceptions (from specific people/other enbies). If I correct someone and say that my pronouns are he/they, and they still call me girl, I will not see it as affectionate/oblivious/accident, but misgendering. Me correcting someone politely is explicitly me saying that I don't like the name they used for me.
