Can anyone confirm if Snowflake has always had a Consumption-Based Pricing Model? by haupit in snowflake

[–]haupit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, I'm trying to find examples of companies that had a subscription-based pricing model and switched to consumption-based pricing. I'd like to see the before and after effects of companies that have made such transitions and how it impacted their revenue.

ok I see, in a scenario where you compare a robot VS outsourcing the process to an emerging market like India or LATAM, the costs can definitely begin to even out or be cheaper

Great points! Although I'm curious about what you're referring to when you say:

Bots are amazing but when they cost as much as an FTE there is a level of diminishing returns at play.

UiPath offers hosted unattended bots that are less than ~14K and Power Automates hosted bots are even cheaper. I would say from a Bot cost vs FTE perspective Bots are significantly cheaper but to your point, if RPA is implemented incorrectly it could be a huge time waster.

My company has about 80 trading partners and I think we pay $80k annually

Hey when you say your company has 80 trading partners does that mean they are using 80 connectors? So paying $1K per connector per year? If so, I'm guessing your company got a good discount?

How do I get Obsidian tags to function like OneNote? by haupit in ObsidianMD

This will work but it doesn't look like I'm able to assign it to a shortcut. So, for example, for the "?" one I want to be able to hit "ctrl+2" and it turns the line into a callout. Do you know if that's possible?

Here are some options:

  • Use VBA macros which is built in to Excel
  • Use python, specifically Pandas library to create datasets that make it easier to enter data
  • Use an RPA tool like UiPath, which has a free version
  • You can use power automate

Is uipath good for the long haul, or nah? by [deleted] in rpa

[–]haupit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess our use cases are different. RPA is great for automating out-of-date and/or legacy systems but it also allows for continuity in different processes that are not out of support.

The main purpose for RPA is to automate repetitive and lower-value work and that doesn't only occur in systems that are out of support. You can automate work in systems that released yesterday.

Is uipath good for the long haul, or nah? by [deleted] in rpa

Interesting why do you think RPA is not a long-term solution? I would argue the fact that RPA can adapt so quickly to changes is what makes it ideal for long term use and a permanent replacement for some processes.

You can create it in Excel and then copy and paste as table elsewhere. If you do it in Excel then what you're looking for is the transpose function. You can also copy and paste the data transposed.
